Topics include history of digital art, microcontroller programming, basic electronics & sensors.

An intensive studio course, which focuses upon developing innovative processes for understanding and deploying a range of software and hardware based real-time I/O and electromechanical tools within the context of contemporary experimental art practice. The course covers real-time systems programming and basic digital/ analog electronics and looks to locate the usage of these within a wider aesthetic framework. In building a critical language with which to analyze relationships between real and virtual, static and mobile, local and remote, online and offline, students are encouraged to implement new tools, new systems and new presentational scenarios for performance, art installations, and other digital arts applications. The concentration in this class is on prepackaged but flexible tools, and rapid prototyping processes.

The drain was installed following a flood in 2019 that impacted a neighbor’s property and is part of a water control system that enabled Dykstra to control the water level of that pond and throughout the property. Dykstra purchased the property in 2015 and worked with USDA’s Natural resources Conservation Service in 2019 to install a series of water control structures and systems throughout the property after excess rain caused flooding throughout the easement and into a neighbor’s property. The property was originally enrolled in the Wetland Reserve Easement Program through USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service in 2010 through an initiative in the Fish Creek Watershed aimed at creating habitat for the endangered copper belly water snake. Dykstra is also working with NRCS to address invasive species on the property. (NRCS photo by Brandon O’Connor)

I have been lost in Photoshop. I was having ideas in Lightroom and they led to edits and on to Photoshop CS and from there they are stretching out towards some notion of motion pictures. I have not used this Film Temperature Control System. I have been calling a film cooker. It looks superb and it comes with a three pin U.K. Plug fitted ready for accurate simmering film into tender toner and sharpish shadows and might fine highlights.

I have used two fonts to give °CineStill a look as it has in the packaging.

I forget to mention the soundtrack. Two tracks from those provided by my editing service with no composers and players listed. I have edited tracks individually and together. All errors on me and all praise to unknown originators of music. I wish that I had some names to praise.

Challenge: Several attempts by another company had been made to provide programming and debugging of a motor winding machine, but had failed.

IAS Corp. Solution:

IAS Corp. was called in to provide programming and debugging of a motor winding machine for an international company. The semi-automatic machine needed a complex control system, but is still very easy to use. An operator places an armature in the machine and connects leads. The machine automatically winds armature and then tests the winding. The program allows for fine tuning and adjustment of all machine functions. System maintains a log file of all work. Cycle time is faster than comparable machines and switches between motor types quickly.

For a WW2 system, the fire control system was AMAZINGLY sophisticated. The gunner aimed the weapon remotely, putting the crosshairs on the target (usually a Japanese Zero). The system compensated for parallax, wind speed, firing angle and distance to put the bullets right where the gunner wanted

The ER-50 Vigilant AWACS is a refit of a commercial plane, the MirthAir R-50. The plane carries a large radar array for scanning large swathes of airspace, and providing targeting and surveillance data to allied aircraft. In a traditional airland battle, the ER-50 functions as a flying radar array, communications tower, and command center. It carries a flight crew of 4, with 9 specialists, and 1 air-battle manager.

The MotarySteerable™ direction control system combines traits of two conventional technologies—mud motors and rotary-steerable systems—to optimize drilling and minimize costs. It incorporates the new targeted bit-speed steering technique to overcome limitations associated with conventional mud motors, such as sliding and the absences of 3D directional control while rotating.

Air Traffic System

The air traffic control system is made up of control towers, approach controls, en route centers, flight service stations, and the Air Traffic Control System Command Center.

Each performs a different task. Tower controllers handle aircraft landing, taking off, taxiing, or flying in the airport vicinity. Approach and en route controllers, using radar, handle aircraft flying between airports. Flight service station specialists provide pilots weather briefings, flight planning, and other services. The Command Center oversees the air traffic flow throughout the entire system.

A sophisticated network of navigation, surveillance, communications, and automation equipment helps controllers perform these missions.

Air Traffic Controllers

Air traffic controllers constantly monitor aircraft as they move from tower control to approach to en route airspace. Their primary duty is to keep airplanes separated from terrain, obstacles, and other aircraft. They also provide information about weather and unexpected events and advise pilots about more efficient routes.

A pilot may communicate with many controllers during a flight. Controllers usually provide service on a first-come, first-served basis except under special conditions, as when an aircraft is in distress.

This is 1/2 of the control system for the McRae Austenitizing System. Jim Padgett designed and vbuilt all of this equipment. This is a state of the art system, using a Honeywell HC900 PLC controller, with Omron PLC mechanical control system. Everything is automatic. Pipe is placed on the feed rack, then the system loads the pipe, processes it (automatic heating system) then exit the pipe onto a cooldown rack. I could not get the entire control room due to my camera's capabilities. The opposite wall looks just like this.

Experience the country’s only original Cold War Operations Room, which formed a critical link in the RAF’s Command and Control System in the Years following World War Two.

THE ROYAL AIR FORCE - AIR DEFENCE RADAR MUSEM - www.radarmuseum.co.uk/

A visit to the museum will give you a comprehensive insight into how Cold War Air Defence Operations were carried out during those tense and dangerous times as the RAF faced the might of the Societ Air Force and the ever-present threat of a nuclear war.

The Museum has managed to retain unique pieces of radar equipment as its purpose through World War Two to Cold War, was to monitor U.K air space. The Museum retells the development of radar through World War Two to seeing the actual Air Defence Cold War room (which contains original equipment of the era).

The Museum is an award winning, volunteer run, visitor attraction that offers a fascinating and informative day out for the family. Housed entirely in RAF buildings including the original hardened Grade II listed 1942 Radar Operations building, the Museum provided a unique window into the history of radar covering the period of the World War Two and the Cold War era's.

The Museum has 24 exihibition rooms and over 10,000 display items. Knowledgeable ex-RAF volunteers bring history to life giving two daily presentations, telling the real stories of Air Defence at RAF Neatishead.

The Crumbs Cafe offers delicious snacks and drinks, and on the way out you can pick up a memento of you visit in the well-stocked souvenir shop.
