The rolag was spun and chain plied to keep the stripes intact. The colors spin from the rolag in a "hit or miss" fashion since they are not thoroughly blended. This contributes to the tweedy look in the finished yarn.

The education of women is believed to contribute not only to their individual and household prosperity and health but more generally to the development of their nations. However, despite growing efforts to reduce gender disparity in education, according to UNESCO, half of 157 countries in the world were unable to achieve the Millennium Development Goal of reducing gender disparity in primary and secondary education by 2015. Different studies have identified several factors influencing absenteeism or or dropout of girls from school. One such factor is poor sanitation, especially not having separate girls’ toilets, which can discourage girls from coming to school.
The project involves building a female toilet for girls at the Government Bilingual High School Penda Mboko which is in the Littoral Region of Cameroon. When completed, the project will serve girls between the ages of 11 - 17 who are students at the Government Bilingual High School Penda Mboko. Currently, these girls have to use the same toilets as boys and these toilets are have no doors. Therefore, the privacy of girls is not guaranteed and they avoid using the toilet. When finished, girls will have a separate toilet from boys and can use it in privacy. This will also help avoid open defecation around the school.

Thinking Outside The Box - Or Clinging to the Lid
The Power of Psychological Artistry
Standing Out from the Crowd - Creating Your Difference
Being Different - No, Really Different
What You Get On The Workshops?
What Do People Say About The Workshops?
Register Your Place
For more information on the day, please see www.mindsways.com/SMS/ and for a brochure of what the day is about, please look at www.mindsways.com/SMS/.
Over the past 18 Months I have been running these Sleight of Mind Set Workshops throughout the country, and I am really pleased with the feedback, it has been tremendous, please don't just take my word for it, (I am after all biased) please see what people have said by going to www.mindsways.com/what-people-say/
For over twenty five years I have seen how magic can add value to delivery. There are a lot of unknown techniques out there, many of them psychological, that engages and attracts people. The Sleight of Mind Set workshop is all about how you can tap into this rich stream of ideas and "Mind Magic's" enduring popularity. The day looks at two paths running together, one learning the tricks and effects, the other why and how they add value to us.
They start at 10:00 a.m. and finish at 4:30 p.m. For more information about the workshops, please got to www.mindsways.com/SMS/
THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX - OR CLINGING TO THE LID
Many people claim that the answers to creativity, standing out from the crowd and finding solutions to problems is thinking outside the box. Although, I see many people who cling ferociously on to the lid. Psychological Artistry and Mind Magic, as well as the tools and techniques contained within them are definitely off the lid. For more, see the Sleight Of Mind Set page at www.mindsways.com/SMS/Explaining what you can achieve with these tools is wonderful. For me, I find it deeply rewarding when I see and the results that have been created using these tools and techniques. Don't just take my word for it, see What People Say About Us at www.mindsways.com/what-people-say/.
The Sleight Of Mind Set day is not just about learning the Mind Magic tricks, (these are quick to learn, but create much to be thought about) what makes it thrilling is what you can build with them for yourself. You can build pieces into your delivery, making this very personal to you. You can take these pieces and use them to ignite a powerful response in others, engaging and involving them in your ideas and what you do. Our focus is around Showing Not Telling which is about illuminating and animating your ideas and concepts. This contributes greatly to leaving people delighted, energized, interested and wanting more.
To find out more about Mind Magic and its uses, please go to www.mindsways.com/SMS/
THE POWER OF PSYCHOLOGICAL ARTISTRY
The approach we take is what we call Psychological Artistry and this involves using a blend of psychology, mind magic (or mentalism), personal development and smart thinking ideas. By tapping into people's imagination, curiosity and desire for mystery we can engage people in all different areas. By adding in psychological approaches, this is strengthened. I appreciate that by its very nature, it is not a traditional approach but that is where its power lies.
Psychological Artistry is about blending the world of art and psychology. It's about showing the beautiful flaws in our thinking and how we can use them. It's about magnifying how we all think and giving you the opportunity to change it.
A couple of interesting examples the McGurk effect and Prof Richard Wiseman's "The Incredible Colour Changing Card Effect". Please see www.mindsways.com/SMS for these and other incredible videos. I would love to know what you think. These illustrate both the power and the approach of psychological artistry.
STANDING OUT FROM THE CROWD - CREATING YOUR DIFFERENCE
This learning works on a number of levels. On the workshops, we look at what Mind Magic reveals about how we think, act and behave. This allows us to understand the environment we're in.
Whilst doing this, we're also tapping into the fact that performing and illustrating illusions holds a deep fascination for people. This is what allows us to stand out from the crowd. Below are a few quotes of what people have said about the workshop:
"A truly inspiring experience is how I'd best describe the Sleight of Mind Set workshop."
"I came away with lots of ideas to create drama and interest in my training delivery."
"The whole group laughed many times and were absolutely fascinated by each technique."
BEING DIFFERENT - NO, REALLY DIFFERENT
This programme is good for anyone looking for something different and to stimulate new styles of thinking. The feedback has definitely been that it has satisfied the thirst for new ideas whilst ticking all of the edutrainment boxes. This programme is for you if you are interested in any of the following:
Human Behaviour & Psychology
Influence & Persuasion
How We Think
Magic & Magicians
New Experiences
Learning & Teaching
Framing Your Ideas
The day is all about
Exploring the art of possibility
Stimulating creativity and innovation
Transforming personal and professional life
Tapping into your imagination
On the personal development level, it is about transforming
Self esteem
Self confidence
Self awareness
Self motivation
for yourself and others. Overall it acts a catalyst for your future development.
It is intended for people who are curious, want to improve how they connect, express and communicate with others. Overall, it is about adding new skills to you and being able to apply the techniques and ideas from Psychological Artistry and Mind Magic to maximise what you do.
MindSways sessions are based on a unique blend of magic, science, psychological artistry, design and smart thinking. All of this allows you to work with individuals, groups and organisations in an original and dynamic way. It also means that by being trained in these psychological subtleties and powerful techniques, you can add a unique twist to your activities.
Our success in life depends critically on two things; our capacity for insight into our own mental world and that of other people. One of the benefits of learning and applying Mind Magic and psychological artistry is that it puts our thinking habits and styles back on our radar. This is only one aspect of the many benefits that people find when they have worked with us over the past few months. For what others have said please take a look at www.mindsways.com/what-people-say/

"Fantastic day... a great eye opener!"
"Thanks to you both for a challenging, stimulating and enjoyable day"
"I've had plenty of thoughts about how some of the approaches used might be incorporated into several areas of my work"
"A great course, with plenty to think about and over"
The workshops have been enjoyed and shown to be beneficial to many people over the past 2 years. The events have been attended and proved to be relevant to people from a wide range of backgrounds including entrepreneurs, business consultants, health professionals, coaches of life, performance and sports, therapists, hypnotherapists, trainers etc.
This is an unorthodox approach to understanding human behaviour, illustrating and promoting our messages, and this is where the real power lies. As Marty Neumeier says in ZAG " Be Different - No, Really Different". For more on what people say, please see www.mindsways.com/what-people-say/and for more on the workshops themselves, please go to www.mindsways.com/SMS/

The Midway Congregational Church was organized in 1752. The original church (Meeting House) was burned by the British in 1778 during the Revolutionary Way. The church building in the photograph was erected in 1792 on the same spot as the original church building. The church was originally established by people with New England backgrounds and the building's design incorporate elements that reflect the traditional building style of that area, principally elements of the Georgian / Federal styles that accentuate order and symmetry.
Throughout the church's active history, white and black people attended services together. White members sat in pews on the first floor, blacks sat on the upper floor in the U-shaped balcony area. The practice started with enslaved blacks and continued after emancipation until at least the 1930s before the membership became inactive sometime later.
The Midway Congregation Church building is located in the Midway Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Property and is a contributing property.

Patriotic Fundraising Card for Australia Day 30 July 1915.
(Foundation Day)
Supporting the troops through patriotic fundraising was also a way that those unable to fight could contribute to the war effort.
While most of us associate Australia Day with 26 January, in 1915 that date was celebrated as Foundation Day and only in New South Wales, as each of the colonies had their own commemorations for their founding. During the First World War, the concept of a national ‘Australia Day’ was instead part of a wider fundraising plan where money was raised by declaring a special ‘day’ on which events such as auctions, stalls, performances and street collections were held to encourage the community to contribute to the war effort.
The success of ‘Australia Day’ in 1915 saw a repeat of similar events the following year, this time on 28 July, and in the subsequent years of the war.
Australian people during other fundraising days saw an ‘Australia Day’ as a way of drawing on the pride of Australians in their soldiers’ recent achievements at Gallipoli. 30 July 1915 was the date agreed upon, and events were held across all of Australia. Ribbons, badges, handkerchiefs, buttons and other items were sold to raise funds, with phrases such as ‘For Australia’s Heroes’, ‘Help Our Wounded Heroes’ and ‘The Turks Struck their Match in the Australians’ which appealed to people’s sense of pride and patriotism. From a population of just under 5 million people, the day raised over 311,500 pounds in Victoria and more than 839,500 pounds in New South Wales. Today, that figure would be close to $623,000 and $1.7 million respectively.
Australia Day, celebrated on 26 January to commemorate the arrival of the First Fleet, was originally known as Foundation Day. It was not until after the Second World War that the Commonwealth and state governments agreed to rename the celebrations on 26 January as Australia Day.
Back in 1915, it was then a very generalised nominated name for any chosen date by any State to help raise funds to support our war efforts. A simple Google search on how Australia Day, as now celebrated on 26th January, came about explains all (Foundation Day became a national Australia Day, but it wasn’t back in 1915). It became nation-wide only in 1935 but an official national public holiday from 1994 – so recent!). If anything, a real “Foundation Day” would be, or should be, 1st January (from our federation in 1901). A Foundation Day is a designated date on which celebrations mark the founding of a nation. This day is for countries that came into existence without the necessity of gaining Independence, which is what we did. Prior to that we were just ‘colonies’ called states.
The above was obtained from the Australian War Memorial (AWM) web site.

Urban agriculture is estimated to contribute up to 30% of global food production. Critically, water from streams and wells commonly used for irrigation at urban farms is often highly contaminated by industrial wastewater and sewage. Working together with our University of Sierra Leone colleagues and local, female-driven farming groups in Freetown, Sierra Leone, the GRASS (Green-rooted agriculture associations) project investigates the use of managed planting schemes and phytoremediation (i.e., plant-based removal or immobilisation of contaminants) to enhance green infrastructure, making urban agriculture more sustainable and strengthening the figurative roots of communities. We held an outreach workshop at one of the Freetown farm sites in May 2022, which focused on engaging with the farmers and their children to discuss why water is important and what can be done to protect this valuable resource. A collection of photos from the workshop is framed by artwork created by the children during an activity.
