As a condition of the municipality of Beira leasing to CdB the site next to the port for its clinker grinding plant, CdB committed to move the operations of Terra Nova to the new municipal landfill. In addition CdB agreed to fund offices, ablution facilities and a mess hall so that the working conditions of the Terra Nova employees are improved. Terra Nova is a not for profit organization that sorts domestic refuse and produces fertilizer from organics that is the used by local farmers.
