You can just about make them out in the background. They were to scale with the trailer section of the Command Centre. As my job before LEGO involved shipping containers everyday I didn't need any reference material to build it!
Conrail NB-39 works Stone Container on the Ford Lead in Teterboro, NJ. NB-39 was the regular relief for the OI-31 crew which brought this job up to the Pascack Valley Line from Oak Island Yard every weekday morning. NB-39 went on duty in the late afternoon, with the crew handling most switching on the Ford Lead before returning east after the evening rush. Traffic levels at the time kept OI-31 busy working the active leads between East Rutherford and Teterboro between the morning and evening rush.
The Ford Lead somehow managed to remain in service through the years, even with the loss of its namesake Ford traffic. The site of Stone Container is now Quivican Trucking, a warehousing operation that I believe may be the only active customer remaining.

Containerproject
Bouwafval, gedumpt in containers kan soms hele mooie artistieke beelden opleveren. In het verleden heb ik dat al vaker gefotografeerd maar dan zonder de container er bij. Dit gaat veranderen.
Vanaf nu (maart 2018) zal ik bij elke containerfoto ook een foto plaatsen van de container zelf.
Ik plaats hier alleen containers die ik in Den Haag heb gezien. Ik zal er ook de straatnaam bij vermelden.

This is one of the cargo container ships returning to China from the Port of San Francisco. A lovely sunset view from the Cliff House restaurant. Truly a Golden Hour. I didn't notice until I was processing the "Double Sunset" effect in this image. Guess from an internal false image in the camera? Or is it a natural optical illusion? Anyone know? Oh well it goes well balancing the double rocks.
It is interesting that of every 100 containers that crossed the Pacific Ocean from Asia to North America last year, 60 came back empty. It is a multi billion dollar loss for the shipping industry. The containers that did come back full were often transported at a steep discount for lack of demand. The main exports after empty containers were; recycled paper, cotton, scrap metal (Old Cars) and Hay. The trip is a 14 day trip from California to Hong Kong.
There are some piping going through the red and blue containers to supply water to the kitchen and bathroom.
