Poland Regained: Polish Posters from the 1890s to the 1930s is a visual link to the centennial celebrations of Poland recovering independence in 1918. The posters featured were made between 1892 and 1939: after the 123-year period of the Partitions (1795-1918), when Poland was gone from the map of Europe, and during the 20 years of its existence as an independent state up until the outbreak of World War II. Exhibition will be on view in the outdoors public exhibition space on the front fencing of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland

Rather surprisingly, the United States Consulate-General in Toronto is celebrating the Supreme Court of America ruling to legalize same-sex marriage with this huge rainbow flag.

Seeing this reminds me of a fun story. A good friend of mine lives and works on the University Avenue in Toronto seen here. He often encounters people asking for direction to the American Embassy.

Lost strangers: "Excuse me, can you tell me how I can get to the American Embassy?"

My friend, with his eyebrows drawn together: "The American Embassy? OH, the AMERICAN EMBASSY! Oh, that is very far from here, it's in Ottawa, you've to go to the airport and take a 50-minute flight to Ottawa first..."

Lost strangers: "No, nooooo, OK, not the embassy, that other thing... you know?? Ohhh, what is it called? The one in Toronto..."

My friend: "OH, You meant the American Consulate-General... see that building there across the street, it's that one."

*** An embassy can only exist in a capital city, and Toronto is NOT the capital city of Canada.

This handsome building used to be part of the city council's portfolio - I remember some years ago it was also used for events like weddings, and I remember attending a friend's wedding there. Now it is home to the French Consulate to Scotland, which relocated their from their smaller West End home, and also the Institut Francais, which puts on cultural events, exhibitions, film shows and more

Austrian Consulate in Cracow.

During latest long photo walk over Cracow (me and wife) we turned to one small unknown street. It happened to be a godsend opportunity I dreamed of for many years. I like The Secret Garden book a lot, but when I started to shoot mainly black and white the garden appeared a marvel. Cute place, as if materialized from a fairy-tale book.

I felt it, but I overlooked many compositions which might bring other shots to the collection. We skirted out the garden then to the Consulate main entrance, but I was too shy to press call button and ask for 20 minutes behind the palace to recreate the book with shots there.

The Sun and its light was fabulous. The views made me stunned and spellbound. I turned to be happy soon. Every shot was wonderful at the back of camera, but PC screen revealed their beautiful b&w feature in full.

Have a nice time viewing them. BTW. Let assume the pigeons play the role of two mating robins, here outside of the consulate fence playing as the famous Garden's wall. :) If you know the book you'll find the shortest illustration entertaining as the shots brought me to my Garden's mood and made watching them with deep joy.

In this comercial building, there it is, in the first floor. This building, also known as Argentina Building, was constructed in the same place of the old Embassy of Argentina, that functioned until the 70'ies in a magnificent mansion surrounded for superb gardens. Unfortunately, the mansion was knocked down (under many protests) for the construction of this trade center...

I turned a corner in Downtown Boston and saw a Mexican flag flying form a building that turned out to be the Mexican Consulate, a diplomatic outpost that helps Mexican visitors in Boston and locals doing business with Mexico.
