You really do need to have a man with this clarity of vision and problem solving ability with materials immediately to hand working for you and not the opposition.
Anyone living in Bracknell is well aware of the town centre regeneration which is taking place. Our new town will be ready next autumn.
Much has been said about the new buildings and shops but very little about the huge army of builders, construction workers, electricians, plumbers and labourers who are actually putting the pieces in place.
This image is the first of a set I intend to post about these guys - The Regeneration Men.

Apparently, in shoe factories in China, it takes two hundred pairs of hands to make a running shoe. Cutters stamp sheets of fabric to form soles, stitchers then sew them together along with logos, shoelace eyelets etc, followed by sole workers who use an infrared oven to glue the soles and frame together. Assemblers will, of course, further assemble the various parts into a final product and finishers will do a quality check and pack. (“Factory Girls”, Leslie Chang, 2009)
So much labor and so many man-hours. A never-ending supply chain that envelops an entire country.
How many pairs of shoes does a construction worker go through in his work-life time? I wonder.
The Big Pour: a convoy of concrete trucks are waiting in line to complete the foundation in one big uninterrupted pour. They started very early and finished as the sun was setting.

He was a nice guy for answering my question when I asked them what they're up to. They also have nice harnesses, which means they've got good work safety :) (He has a full nylon green harness like mine. You have yet to see mine, guess I have good reason to show my old military harness soon. NOTE: His harness is much nicer than my full nylon old military harness. And I'm pretty sure my bright green PVC coated Miller harness would be way too hot for him to wear in the summer heat. He only needs a basic fall protection harness and it doesn't need to be chemical resistant like my oil rig harness is.)

The way construction works are carried out in Bangladesh is just scary. No securities, no safety measures, no regulatory or controlling organization. Just a few days ago a construction worker died due to electric shock he received from the electric supply line during lifting of steel bars.
Here is another scene of work going on without any safety. God knows what is going to happen...
