A strapping fella with an equally strapping tool outside my apartment. They're building a new "deck," apparently!

I really want to buy the "Fireman" (it's practically my sig fig) and "Policeman" to a lesser extent LEGO® CITY 30cm Plush Soft Toys when they become available. They are the same plush toys that K-Mart Australia had advertised for Black Friday in November 2009. They will be £14.99 GBP each(approximately $24.48 USD) according to the Argos store website. Would any of my UK Adult Flickr LEGO friends be willing to help me procure it (them)? [I found one on BL from Australia, but the shipping quote seemed mighty spendy, I think one would fit in a #7 - 14.5" x 20". self-sealing poly bubble mailer to keep weight down] Thanks!

The extremely misnamed "Mens Hommes" vol. 12 set from ZC World comes with a set of female-sized construction worker gear. I picked up the coveralls, hard-hat, tool belt, safety goggles, and cart loose, and added a Takara Destiny Cy Girl and the ZC Girl working boots (which are just a little too bright). The tool box and wrench are from Expertoys, but it looks like ZC includes a full set of tools in the MH Vol. 12 box also.
Iron Workers from Local 7 are on the job at the Brigham and Women's construction site. It was pretty cold but I am sure that these guys have worked through a lot worse. Some of the pictures have good views of the workers' safety equipment.

With a daily income of 250 taka (equivalent to 3 US dollars) life is tough for a construction worker who lives in this city with his family. But that doesn't stop him from dreaming of a good future for his kids. Even in between the heats of pile foundation construction, his eyes are full of wonders.
Just for the record, in a month he earns 250*30 = 7,500 taka, whereas a first class govt. employee earns 11,000 taka. A strange country it is....

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District recently began renovating a World War II-era converted fire station in Comrat, Moldova. The project seeks to update all living and sleeping accomodations, modernize the communication room, and add five new fire truck garages, as well as an Emergency Operations Center. The EOC and fire station will provide rescue and emergency operation services for roughly 35,000 people in 12 surrounding villages. When complete in late 2010, the facility will also serve as the emergency headquarters for capital, Chisinau, located 64 miles north. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photo by Carol E. Davis)
