Two giant cranes lift one of 10 girders into place during the February 2012 weekend closure on SR 520. The girders will support the new Bellevue Way overpass.
The busiest construction weekend yet saw crews tackle installation of girders and concrete deck panels at four overpasses along the State Route 520 corridor from Feb. 24-27, 2012. All lanes of the highway were closed so crews could move more than 4 million pounds of massive concrete girders for new lidded overpasses above the highway at Bellevue Way Northeast and 84th Avenue Northeast. Concrete deck panels were installed at Evergreen Point Road and 92nd Avenue Northeast during a chilly weekend that saw heavy rain, hailstorms and plummeting temperatures.

One last major project for the year involved adding new maintenance free fascia and soffits to the house. Having some handsome young construction workers doing the job was a side bonus!
This summer the region installed sidewalks and repaved my street. Walking around and talking pictures, I discovered that there are a lot of nice guys beneath those hard hats. Here is one of them. I believe this is my favourite picture of all those I took during the construction process this summer

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District recently began renovating a World War II-era converted fire station in Comrat, Moldova. The project seeks to update all living and sleeping accomodations, modernize the communication room, and add five new fire truck garages, as well as an Emergency Operations Center. The EOC and fire station will provide rescue and emergency operation services for roughly 35,000 people in 12 surrounding villages. Lunch atop a Skyscraper (New York Construction Workers Lunching on a Crossbeam) is a famous black-and-white photograph taken during construction of the RCA Building (renamed the GE Building in 1988) at Rockefeller Center in New York City, United States.
The photograph depicts eleven men eating lunch, seated on a girder with their feet dangling 256 meters (840 feet)[1] above the New York City streets. The men have no safety harness, which was linked to the Great Depression, when people were willing to take any job regardless of safety issues.[1] The photo was taken on September 20, 1932 on the 69th floor of the RCA Building during the last months of construction. According to archivists, the photo was in fact prearranged.[1] Although the photo shows real construction workers, it is believed that the moment was staged by the Rockefeller Center to promote its new skyscraper.[1] The photo appeared in the Sunday photo supplement of the New York Herald Tribune on October 2. The glass negative is now owned by Corbis who acquired it from the Acme Newspictures archive in 1995.
Formerly attributed to "anonymous", it has been credited to Charles C. Ebbets since 2003[2][3] and erroneously to Lewis Hine. The Corbis corporation is now officially returning its status to anonymous although most sources continue to credit Ebbets.[4][5][6][7]
There have been numerous claims regarding the identities of the men in the image. The movie Men at Lunch[8] traces some of the men to possible Irish origin, but the director plans to do further interviews to follow up among others claims from Swedish relatives.[9] -Wiki-
