Nederland, Zuid-Holland, Botlek, 28-09-2014; Functioneringssluiting Hartelkering. De waterkering in het Hartelkanaal wordt een maal per jaar, voordat het stormseizoen begint, getest. Tijdens het sluiten van de kering ligt alle scheepvaartverkeer naar de Rotterdamse haven stil.
De kering, onderdeel van de Deltawerken, vormt samen met de Maeslantkering de Europoortkering en beschermt Rotterdam en achterland bij extreme waterstanden.

During the so-called functioning closure, taking place one a year before the storm season begins, the waterway and canal, leading to the Port of Rotterdam, are closed.

Bauarbeiten am S-Bhf. Yorckstraße (Großgörschenstraße) - S1 - für den Austauschen der alten Brücken des Gleises Richtung Wannsee / Potsdam finden bereits seit vielen Monaten statt und sind inzwischen abgeschlossen; jetzt ist die Gegenrichtung dran.
Vor ein paar Monaten wurde endlich ein Baustellenschild aufgestellt und ein Ende der Bauarbeiten tatsächlich für den 20.12.2014 (!) angekündigt. Lassen wir uns überraschen mit wie viel Verspätung dieses Bauprojekt erledigt wird.
Inzwischen gibt es Veröffentlichungen, die als Endtermin für die Bauarbeiten das Frühjahr 2015 bzw. September 2015 nennen. Mal sehen was dann stimmt!
Sollten Sie doch noch bis zum 20. Dezember 2014 fertig werden?

Construction works of the Housing and Development Board (HDB) BTO flats at Telok Blangah Drive are in progress.
The Indonesian Tsunami was tragic and devastating for the people of Indonesia. Hundreds of thousands of people were killed and millions were left homeless.
Minhaj Welfare Foundation (MWF) offered their services and facilities and helped with the construction of new buildings as well as providing water, food, clothes and shelter for those who lost everything.
Work starts on the construction of a new town pond and revamping the top of the High Street, Watford.

Tottenham Court Road Crossrail buildings.
(Interesting mainly for people who know the area and want to see what changed already. I visit the place from time to time to keep myself posted. Hemer is preparing for the Landesgartenschau 2010 (State Horticulutural Show, German source).)
This may be one of the reasons why the construction work is not finished: abandoned house at the end of new Seuthestraße. If you check out the 'garden' you can see what the whole area looked like before: a complete mess of growth nobody cared about and all kinds of trash. This property was adjoining the now removed railroad tracks.

Sollten Sie doch noch bis zum 20. Dezember 2014 fertig werden? Die „Deutsche Bahn AG hat natürlich nicht den Termin geschafft, denn bis Anfang März 2015 sind die Bauarbeiten immer noch nicht beendet! Aber vielleicht warten „Sie“ ja auf die Beendigung der Bauarbeiten im alten „Nordsüd-S-Bahntunnel“ am 3. Mai 2015 ab, um dann alles zusammen wieder freizugeben?!

The Hademarebad (Hademare bath - the Hemer indoor swimming pool), built in 1973, is one of the buildings most people consider 'ugly' now. Like many other things, it does look a bit better in the evening sun. While the Hademarebad will remain there, there's a lot of digging going on around it: in the background you can see the Hademareplatz, in front of the building I heard there will be some more parking space, and right across the street (Bahnhofstrasse) there's the former train station and railroad tracks which are gone for good now.
Nederland, Noord-Holland, Gemeente Wieringen, 16-04-2012; Afsluitdijk ter hoogte van het Monument, de plaats waar in 1932 De Vlieter, het laatste gat, werd gesloten. De 32 kilometer lange dijk vormt de waterkering tussen Waddenzee (links) en IJsselmeer (rechts), aan de horizon is de kust van Friesland zichtbaar. Aanleg van de dijk vormde onderdeel Zuiderzeewerken, initiatief van ingenieur Cornelis Lely.
