Beckley Court construction from North Cross, Plymouth

The pair of Bedford TM's water bowsers were discovered on a road construction site the location of which I simply cannot remember. Probably somewhere down south.

I am still learning how best to use the Voigtlander 40mm E-Mount lens which is a manual lens.

The Moy has been derelict for a long time and if you mention the Moy locals will tell you that it is the building next door that is of historic importance but unfortunately they may be wrong.

Many years ago a local historian, who organised a walking tour of the area, told us that Richard Beesly Sheridan was born at No.12 Dorset Street next door to the Moy Pub. Later I decided to carry out some research and was surprised by the complicated story that I discovered.

According to Wikipedia: “Playwright, Westminster Parliament member, and son of Thomas, Richard Brinsley Sheridan was born on this street at number 12 in 1751; Brinsley Sheridan's works include The Critics and A School for Scandal”.

In 2002 Eneclann Ltd was commissioned to determine if Sheridan was actually born at 12 Dorset Street, as claimed in recent biographies by Fintan O’Toole in 1999 and by Linda Kelly 1n 2097.

The report found that a false assumption about Sheridan's birthplace actual physical came about because of different numbering systems for the street dating back more than 150 years ago. Sheridan was born in 1751 and research historians found that house numbers were not assigned to addresses on Upper Dorset Street until the 1770s, twenty years after Sheridan's birth.

During the period 1770 to 1848 there were some changes in the numbering system. After 1848, the numbers were permanently fixed as they are today. The research found the house recorded as No 12 (Sheridan's birthplace) in the first half of the 19th century could not correspond to the same house today.

Researchers found an early deed for the house currently known as no 12 Dorset Street Upper dated 1783 and records a lease on the property between Joseph Ellis and John Smithy. At this time, the property was recorded as No 10 Dorset Street.

What they did discover was that Thomas Sheridan, Richard's father, held a lease on an adjoining property to what is now 12 Dorset Street.

They are convinced that the actual Sheridan house was one of those purchased by the Dominican Order around August 1883, which were subsequently demolished to build St Saviour's Priory.

To the left is the border of river IJ behind Central Station. I like these situations of raw construction materials and the sites full of building activities, and the often strange perspectives they create, like here. They disrupt normal urban city-life.

Looking at the west side with a new brick wall. This side had two additions that last housed Lumber Liquidators and a smaller scale Pep Boys Auto Parts Store, They were torn down in the fall.

The original shipping dock doors for Venture were on the far right where the new windows are now.

I guess whatever kind of stores will be tenants they will have deliveries made through the front door.

This construction site is on the south side of Lake George. I don’t know what is being built so walking through it is the reverse of roaming through ruins and a pleasure that’s just as intense. It’s a present tense experience of abstract form in the state of becoming… electrical conduit snakes along a labyrinth-like route bordered by orange vinyl fence on one side and a cyclone fence on the other….the fences meander around 50-foot mounds of dirt,…at the site’s south end is an excavation with molds ready for concrete. As you move through this site, the failure of form to reveal its direction and purpose keeps you in the state of now, a state of wonder.

The parking lot at the defunct Oak Lawn K Mart and Chuckie Cheese is being torn up for a new, yet unamed restaurant.

The 360 degrees pano is one of the series I took before the wall came up.

Despite having enough raw-material, the stitching turned out poorly done a lot of times. After plenty of retries I have settled for this version. It's still with some quite visible glitches, but on the overall it's alright.

It's a boring process, but I guess that's where the aRt lies =/

I found this evil thing down at a local park where they've been doing some work on utility lines. The housing for that saw thing actually has a small sticker that says it's dangerous. If you have to read a sticker to figure that out you're in real trouble. This is one of several versions of this photo. Three exp done up in HDR using both photomatrix and topaz adjust.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District is overseeing the construction of more than 200 homes at the Urlas Training Area in Ansbach, Germany - a little over 20 of which are Passivhäuser, or “Passive Houses.” Although the remaining homes will not meet Passivhäus standards, they will adhere to German EnEV energy-saving standards, which are still more energy efficient than American standards.
