Construction is ahead of schedule on the future U.S. Army Europe Command and Battle Center Sept. 23, 2010, located on the Wiesbaden Army Airfield in Germany. The $129 million project, which will deliver a 285,000-square-foot operations center, is being managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District. High Royds Village, Menston, West Yorkshire. David Wilson Homes development. This site - part of Wilson Bowden plc - had a comprehensive site waste management policy document. It was the only site to have a written document for distribution. I have a copy and am impressed in particular by their duty of care section.

"You cannot contract the Duty of Care for your waste away to someone else. When your waste is in someone else's hands, your DoC is shared BUT as the producer of the waste you always have a responsibility. Well constructed, unambiguous contracts with people who handle your waste are therefore vital and will allow you to act immediately to put matters right should you discover or suspecct any breach of your own or your contractor's DoC." The section goes on. but this statement is one that should be adopted by every household, not just housing developers.

The new building works at the old Clinic. Though I'd do a collage rather than putting up individual photo. Rather boring otherwise I thought.

I drive past this every night on my way home from work, and I've been really curious to find out what it is. It's a pretty big constuction on a massive site at the corner of Beech Street and Prescot Road in Kensington.

It turns out that it's the rather laughably titled "Kensington Neighbourhood Centre" and it started construction about six weeks ago.

Why is the title laughable? Well, like most Liverpool projects it started out as something potentially useful. This was to be a combination of shops and flats with a housing association headquarters, some PCT (health service) facilities, a council 'one stop shop' and a Fire Station.

Again as with seemingly all things related to Kensington Regeneration it hit delays, then more delays, then more delays, then turned from something useful into something not useful. The PCT went elsewhere because of the delays. The housing association went elsewhere because of the delays. The Council probably vired funding elsewhere. And something that showed promise now doesn't. The huge site opposite this one could have been something amazing - we got a McDonalds and a Lidl. This site could have been something amazing. It's going to be an Iceland and some flats.

Just like everything else that comes out of the self serving White Elephant of the 'Job Bank' on Tunnel Road, it's failed to deliver for the people of Kensington. Call me cynical, but I'm acutely aware that these regeneration companies can only work themselves out of a job if they succeed. That's not much of an incentive to do well.

Maybe I'm wrong and it will be lovely. I'm not holding my breath.

Following the demolition of the old Weston carpet factory on Enghavevej/Chr. X's Vej/Engtoften, the clean-up process is well underway. This MAN TGM takes part in the process, viewed from Chr. X's Vej towards Engtoften. The red gabled house in the back is Enghavevej 26, which itself fell for the bulldozers almost exactly 1 year later... a project the MAN was unable to take part in, having been retired in march 2016.

Retirement age for trucks: many used trucks are offered for sale on international markets. If sold to a foreign buyer, this will not be listed in the danish motor registry, so a "retired" truck may or may not have been exported. In other words, the "retirement age" only shows the age, at which the truck stopped running on danish license plates.

Griffin’s Hydraulic Driven Submersible Pumps are available in trash, axial flow and materials handling models. The pumps range from 4” to 24” with a variety of impeller designs. These pumps are designed for handling high volumes of water up to 20,000 gpm and head conditions up to 140 ft. The impellers can handle solids up to 3”. Some models may also be used for high pressure applications.

The project shown was called the “Alameda Corridor” and was for the construction of a railway connecting the Port of Los Angeles to downtown Los Angeles. Construction of this railway allowed for a direct railway into Los Angeles without interrupting the normal street traffic by eliminating the need for Train Crossing Signals and Guards.

The majority of the railway was below street grade, most of which required dewatering as the high ground water table in the area would not allow the construction to be achieved.

Griffin was contacted by Tutor-Saliba (General Contractor) to provide the dewatering necessary to construct the project.

Griffin installed a multitude of deepwells along the alignment of the proposed railway to allow for construction. The discharge from the wells was pumped via large diameter High Density Polyethylene Pipe (HDPE) to a below grade mixing vault (shown in picture), where a neutralizing agent was introduced to the ground water as the quality of the groundwater was not allowed to discharge to the designated receiving area without this treatment.

I live off Henrietta street in Dublin 1 and for the last seven years [or even longer] the area has been a huge building site and the pace of change is increasing by the day. I recently read in the Irish Times that they have counted 109 tower cranes in the City Centre ["There were 109 cranes visible over the centre of Dublin on January 1st from the seventh floor of The Irish Times building on Tara Street"].

Many of the cranes are close to my apartment. On Upper Dominick, alone, there are currently two large Student Accommodation Complexes under construction and within walking distance there are many such complexes and hotels under construction. The Green Line Tram Network extension has had a huge impact on the area as has the Grangegorman College Campus project.

It's a new building near (or even belonging to) one of the Railway stations of Vienna.

I found the scaffolding impressive enough to pick the camera out of my backpack for it. :)

Feet up, sandwich in hand, and four guys watching and chatting. That is to say, construction continues on Trondheim´s new hospital complex full speed ahead. (St. Olav´s hospital, Trondheim, Norway).
