He was very serious, but when I told him he could be a Bollywood star a smile appeared.

We've had construction going on our street for 20 years it seems. Ok it's been a year, but it feels like 20.

There has been more snow in Helsinki this winter that I have ever seen. Here's a quick snap I took at the cemetery recently: markuspuustinen.com/images/eiblogi/cemetery_in_snow.jpg It all started to melting today...

Recently constructed buildings to th rear of Eastgate Shopping Centre, on Gt Colman St and Old Foundry Road.

The demolition of the concrete slab of Warnford House and good materials in the new frontages have improved the area, although the new buildings are unrelated to the use of the main structures.

The original Robert Ransome foundry and works were on this site (then known as St Margarets Ditches) in the early 1800s before moving to much larger premises at Orwell Works on the Wet Dock in the 1850s. An Ipswich Society blue plaque is now mounted on this building to commemorate the original Ransome foundry.

Members of the 4-401st Army Field Support Battalion supervised the beginning stages of construction of new maintenance facilities at Kandahar Air Base. The facilities are capable of supporting many missions including maintenance, storage, or living quarters. The new facilities are scheduled to be completed in the next few months and are being built with the help of Afghan workers. The space will provide critical infrastructure to support the logistical and sustainment needs of U.S. and coalition forces.

About the 401st:

The 401st Army field Support Brigade gives our Soldiers, Sailors, Airman, and Marines, the tools and resources necessary to complete the mission. If they shoot, drive it, fly it, wear it, eat it or communicate with it, the 401st helps to provide it. The brigade also assists coalition partners with many of their logistical and sustainment needs. The brigade will also handle to responsible disposition of equipment in Afghanistan as the mission here changes. The 401st is the single link between warfighters in the field and Army Materiel Command.

SEPTEMBER 7, 1970: Stage Being Set: Preparing the site of the new amusement park complex at Kings Mills, Ohio, which began in mid-March 1970, is 90% complete and the overall work is about 20% complete. The $20 million Taft Broadcasting leisure time park of 200 acres is being located in a 1200-acre tract bordering I-71 in Warren County. General contractor is Charles V. Maescher & Co., Inc. Cincinnati. Sheet metal workers Howard Pickett, Franklin, Ohio, and Bob Smith, Clarksville, Ohio, work on roof of the "dodg'em" building. The two-year period of construction was begun last June 15, 1970 when officials of the Coney Island division of Taft Broadcasting sank their shovels into the earth at a groundbreaking ceremony. Officials expect 2 million guests the first season following a May 1972 opening. The $1 million tower with twin observation decks is served by glass-enclosed, high-speed elevators. The decks will afford a 25-mile view.
