Queen's University Spring Convocation ceremonies proceed amidst the Queen's Centre construction project. No one really seemed to mind the rubble or the fences!

From the photographer's notes - "The station at National Bl. is in several stages of completion. I think the elevated platforms and canopy's are pretty much done. The lower entrance Lobby looks like there is more to do.

We noticed that the overhead is pretty much completed from Dunleer Dr. to just before the Westwood Station. Part of the East bound overhead is yet to be finished from Dunleer Br. West a short distance.

At Military Av. they were pulling rail sections up to the Sepulveda Station and Bridge. The elevator cages are complete at the Station."

Construção Frenética aqui no Líbano!

Saiam e aproveitem o mundo "lá fora".

Um grande abraço!

André

Frenzy Construction here at Lebanon!

I'll make a particular use of today's post to THANK EVERYONE THAT HAS BEEN FOLLOWING AND SUPPORTING THE PROJECT!

Without your contribution, the results achieved wouldn't be possible!

>>> It's also good to emphasize an explanation, that I judge necessary to relate here. I was motivated after an e-mail of a great friend, received at the beginning of the week, where she questioned me about not yet have been published at this space a lot of images with traces of war, emphasized at the project's release. She also asked about the absence of women in the imagens, but the issue is already overcome. (lol)

About women, yesterday's post was already totally enlightening, right?

About the images with traces of war, my opinion is that this Flickr is primarily a "showcase", and does not reflect in its fullness the entire project itself. In this understanding, I have been allowing myself to insert images that in some cases deviate a little from the central theme proposed, and that I usually try to relate to the experiences lived daily or the issues most discussed in Brazil and abroad in that particular day. >>> I would like to quote the October's 3rd post in particular, election day in Brazil, where the picture was taken with a horrible light! However, the image passed the message I wanted to leave that day, suggesting a greater awareness and reflection about the votes of each citizen of this Brazilian Nation so spreadout in our huge planet.

This way I believe to make more interesting the experience for who visits this space, while maintaining a greater curiosity for the final cut material of the project, which will be exposed in the exhibition opening in 2011!

Havind said that, I wish everyone a great day! Get out and enjoy the world "out there".

A big hug!

André

This roundabout has been under construction for more than 14 months. It is approximately 65% complete.

Better days are ahead, at least for anyone who must go through this intersection on a daily basis.

Self-Portrait - 1935

Paul Cadmus (1904 - 1999)

In this self-portrait, Paul Cadmus continuously draws the viewer’s gaze to his face, creating a circular composition through the bent arm, curving coat lapel, and raised pencil. The emphasis on the pencil draws the eye to the crosshatched marks that combine to create the image. Though he often depicted his gay contemporaries and was unafraid of including gay themes in his work, Cadmus rejected the notion that his work indexed his sexuality. He believed his artistic self remained separate from his personal identity.

This World Class attraction was everything we expected and more. Construction has just begun on a major expansion, but that has been managed in such a way that it does not in any way detract from the experience now.

This album focuses on the artwork inside the buildings and on the other interior spaces including the Eleven Restaurant and the Gift Shop. A separate album posted a few days ago is devoted to the two April mornings that we spent exploring just some of the trails that crisscross the 120 acres of Arkansas forest around the museum.

"Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is a museum of American art in Bentonville, Arkansas. The museum, founded by Alice Walton and designed by Moshe Safdie, officially opened on 11 November 2011. It offers free public admission.

Alice Walton, the daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton, spearheaded the Walton Family Foundation's involvement in developing Crystal Bridges. The museum's glass-and-wood design by architect Moshe Safdie and engineer Buro Happold features a series of pavilions nestled around two creek-fed ponds and forest trails. The 217,000 square feet complex includes galleries, several meeting and classroom spaces, a library, a sculpture garden, a museum store designed by architect Marlon Blackwell, a restaurant and coffee bar, named Eleven after the day the museum opened, "11/11/11". Crystal Bridges also features a gathering space that can accommodate up to 300 people. Additionally, there are outdoor areas for concerts and public events, as well as extensive nature trails. It employs approximately 300 people, and is within walking distance of downtown Bentonville."

I made this from slab construction - the bright colors are under-glaze (I applied the under-glaze to torn pieces of news paper and stuck them to the pottery and dipped the entire piece in a a glaze of rutile blue (which stays brown unless double dipped). I then pulled off the newspaper and put transparent glaze over the entire surface.
