Today, the Toronto Star reported that Yeki, a 25-year-old middle-aged white rhino died last Thursday, after surgery to alleviate extreme constipation was unsuccessful. From the photo in The Star, my photo is not of Yeki. Yeki had longer, sharper horns. But the Star's photo reminded me of this one as it showed Yeki drinking from this pond. It was in B&W.

Today our surroundings are evolving to adapt and innovate to "the new normal", many have been severely affected in terms of their health, schedules, practices, and restrictive movements. The general observations of Covid-19 have more likely made everyone experience various degrees of anxiety, worry, and uncertainty.
Lifestyles changed completely or partially, in terms of eating, sleeping, and other regular routines leading as welcome to lifestyle diseases.

During camp at Bhosari, 39 people benefitted from the collaborative camp of Healing Hands Foundation with Sakhol Social Foundation.
Issues like Piles, Fissure, Fistula, Pilonidal sinus, Constipation, Hernia, and Varicose veins were focused on during this camp.
Camp-Coordinator Anita Said organised camp, NGO-Coordinator Madhura Bhate diagnosed patients, Tejashree Khalate counseled them. Ashna Tamboli and Bhavna More helped patients with varicose veins medicines.

Dandelion is a character from Watership Down, a book I loved as a kid. The name of this soap (from last year) was inspired by the snarks about salads being bunny food. Edible Uses: Coffee, Salad, Potherb, Vegetable, Pinole, Flour,
Leaves - raw or cooked. They can also be dried for later use. The leaves can be added to salads, cooked as a potherb or added to soups. Only the very young leaves should be used, preferably before the stems have developed, and even these are likely to be bitter. If used in early spring and in the autumn they can often be fairly pleasant tasting. The leaves are very rich in vitamins and minerals, especially iron and the vitamins A and C. Stems - raw or cooked. They are best peeled and the inner portion eaten Seed - raw or cooked. It can be used as a Pinole or can be ground into a powder and used as a flour for making pancakes etc.. The seed is very tedious to harvest and prepare. The roasted seed has been used as a coffee substitute.
CAUTION: Plants can contain quite high levels of oxalic acid, which is what gives the leaves of many members of this genus an acid-lemon flavor. Perfectly alright in small quantities, the leaves should not be eaten in large amounts since the oxalic acid can lock-up other nutrients in the food, especially calcium, thus causing mineral deficiencies. The oxalic acid content will be reduced if the plant is cooked. People with a tendency to rheumatism, arthritis, gout, kidney stones or hyperacidity should take especial caution if including this plant in their diet since it can aggravate their condition. Avoid during pregnancy & breast feeding.
MEDICINAL USES: Alterative, Antiscorbutic, Astringent, Cancer, Cholagogue, Depurative, Homeopathy, Laxative,
Poultice, Salve, Tonic,
Curled dock has a long history of domestic herbal use. It is a gentle and safe laxative, less powerful than rhubarb in its action so it is particularly useful in the treatment of mild constipation. The plant has valuable cleansing properties and is useful for treating a wide range of skin problems. All parts of the plant can be used, though the root is most active medicinally. The root is alterative, antiscorbutic, astringent, Cholagogue, depurative, laxative and mildly tonic. It used to be sold as a tonic and laxative. It can cause or relieve diarrhea according to the dose, harvest time and relative concentrations of tannin(astringent) and anthraquinones (laxative) that are present. It is used internally in the treatment of constipation, diarrhea, piles, bleeding of the lungs, various blood complaints and also chronic skin diseases. Externally, the root can be mashed and used as a poultice and salve, or dried and used as a dusting powder, on sores, ulcers, wounds and various other skin problems. The root has been used with positive effect to restrain the inroads made by cancer, being used as an alterative and tonic. The root is harvested in early spring and dried for later use. Some caution is advised in its use since excess doses can cause gastric disturbance, nausea and dermatitis. The seed is used in the treatment of diarrhea. A homeopathic remedy is made from the fresh root, harvested in the autumn before frost has touched the plant. It is only used in the treatment of a specific type of cough.

Yellow, dark green to brown and dark grey dyes can be obtained from the roots. They do not need a mordant. An alternative ingredient of 'QR' herbal compost activator. (is it the flowers?) This is a dried and powdered mixture of several herbs that can be added to a compost heap in order to speed up bacterial activity and thus shorten the time needed to make the compost

I have been on my bike a lot and am thinking that I will never be this thin again. So I held the camera up near the light in my office and took a few shots my face because I am vain.

Thanks to the assistance of the Vriddhamitra School Sanstha team in collaborating with our Healing Hands Foundation to reach elderly companions at Janta Vasahat, Parvati, Pune. Many of the elderly friends experience several age-related issues, including constipation (not passing stool), fissures, hemorrhoids, fistula, acidity, etc. Yet they are unable to get to the hospital by themselves. We helped these elderly companions and served 78 of them with free diagnosis and herbal medicines. During the camp, qualified medical personnel provided free examinations and advice for hemorrhoids, fissures, fistulas, constipation, hernia, varicose veins, and other problems. जनता वसाहत,पर्वती, पुणे येथे हीलिंग हॅन्डस फॉउंडेशन-पुणे व वृद्धमित्र स्कूल संस्था-पुणे,यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने वृद्धमित्रांसाठी मोफत आरोग्य शिबीर आयोजित करण्यात आले. अनेक वृद्धमित्रांना वया मुळे बद्धकोष्टता (शौशास साफ न होणे), पित्तविकार, मूळव्याध अश्या त्रासाला सामोरे जावे लागते, पण स्वतः दवाखान्यात जाणे शक्य होत नाही. अश्याच वृद्ध-मित्रांसाठी आपली हीलिंग हॅन्डस फॉउंडेशन,वृद्धमित्र संस्थे सोबत जय भवानी नगर, जनता वसाहत, पर्वती, येथे पोहोचली. शिबिरात मुळव्याध, बद्धकोष्ठता, हर्निया, भगंदर, व्हेरीकोस व्हेन्स व इतर पोटाचे विकार यावर तज्ञ डॉक्टरांच्या मदतीने मोफत तपासणी व मार्गदर्शन करण्यात आले. सदर शिबिरास ,हीलिंग हॅन्डस फाउंडेशन तर्फे डॉ. अश्विनी परगेवार यांनी सर्वांना तपासले व तेजश्री खलाटे यांनी समुपदेशन केले व रुग्णांना संस्थे मार्फत औषध देऊन मार्गदर्शन केले,अनिता सैद (शिबीर व्यवस्थापक)यांनी शिबिराचे सर्व नियोजन केले, आनंद मिसाळ व जावेद शेख यांचे शिबिरास मोलाचे सहकार्य लाभले. वृद्धमित्र संस्थेतर्फे चैत्राली खंडाळे व दिपा साळुंखे सह इतर कर्मचारी वृंद उपस्थित होते. शिबिरात 78 वृद्ध-मित्रांनी, मोफत तपासणी व औषधांचा चा लाभ घेतला. हीलिंग हॅन्डस फॉउंडेशन चे अध्यक्ष-डॉ. अश्विन पोरवाल, सचिव-डॉ.स्नेहल पोरवाल व संस्था समन्व्यक- मधुरा भाटे यांचे मार्गदर्शन लाभले व शिबीर यशस्वी झाले.

Healing Hands Foundation & Astitva Social Foundation jointly organised free health awareness and checkup drive at Chandannagar Pune.
People are still not ready to share about the like piles, fissures, fistula, pilonidal sinus & constipation. So we are collaborating with NGOs to spread the word of awareness.
People do come & speak in these camps. Here they comfortably share their issues with counselors and doctors.
On 8 Dec 2021, the camp was organised at Meera General Clinic, Homeopathic Healing Centre near Datta Mandir, Sangharsh Chowk, Chandannagar, Pune.
Special thanks to Mona More, Sagar Nikalje, Savita Bhalerao, of Astitva Social Foundation, and Dr. Tausif Shaikh for providing his clinics space for consultation during camp.
Anita Said arranged the drive, Pooja Rao diagnosed patients, Tejashree Khalate counseled them. Ashna Tamboli & Bhavana More helped patients with varicose veins medicines. Rohit Ragade did the registration, Anand Misal, Santosh Kamble actively arranged the set-up for the camp.
30 patients benefitted from the drive and proved an eye-opener for all!
