Yes, with a little care, piles can be prevented by avoiding constipation. Though piles mostly occur in the third trimester of your pregnancy from week 29 to week 40 (i.e. in the seventh, eighth and ninth month).
To avoid getting constipated,
- Drink plenty of water
- Include ample fresh fruits and vegetables
- Include some high-fiber foods like pears, green peas, beans, lentils, brown rice, wholemeal bread, and chapatis
- Practice the Kegel or pelvic floor exercises to increase circulation around the rectum and increase the strength of the muscles in the vagina and perineum
- Rest your feet on a stool often. Could also repeat the same when in the toilet since this position helps to open the bowels more easily
- Do not withhold going to the toilet for longer periods
- Consult a piles doctor to prescribe a mild laxative

A wild riot of colour as thousands celebrate London's Gay Pride Parade 2011. London 02.07.2011
This Saturday July 2nd 2011 saw the explosion of colour and fabulous carnival/cabaret fancy-dress which is the annual Gay Pride parade passing through the packed London streets as many Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender groups representing special interest campaigning groups, trade unions, the armed forces, police service, christian groups and several of London's gay bars and clubs celebrated their sexuality and diversity, watched and cheered on by tens of thousands of enthusiastic members of the public.
The days celebrations were purposefully snubbed by London mayor Boris Johnson much to the anger and irritation of many, since Mr. Johnson is expected to show support for all Londoners. However, his greatest opponent in the upcoming mayoral elections, former London Mayor Ken Livingstone was to be seen - as always - at the head of the parade, accompanied by human and gay rights activist Peter Tatchell.
Gone was the nervous tension of the original trail-blazing Gay Pride marches of the late 1970's and early 80's, as a new generation of gay people enjoy far greater public acceptance of their lifestyle in what feel like more enlightened times. What is taken for granted now was fought for in the past by courageous activists and their political supporters who wanted to see an end to the homophobic bigotry and institutionalised discrimination which used to be the universal public position towards them.
Having said that, there was a demonstration set up at the bottom of Waterloo Place by a group of so-called Christians from the Baptist Church - some of whom looked like they had been time-warped directly from the 1950's, complete with emotional constipation - who spent the entire afternoon insulting and demeaning all gay people and anyone who accepts homosexuality as a part of the enormously wide spectrum of human sexuality by cherry-picking snippets from the Bible completely without proper context, and generally showing themselves up to be nothing more than a bunch of hate-filled bigots who hilariously claim to love the people they were standing there belittling.
My photos of the Baptists and the crowd's reactions to being assaulted by the pious abuse are already uploaded in my set "Baptists preach intolerance at Gay Pride Parade".
After the parade made its way from Portland Place to Trafalgar Square, the marchers and bystanders alike dispersed into Soho for some serious street partying which lasted late into the night. There was a main stage in Trafalgar Square which hosted a long rosta of minor-league pop and dance acts during the afternoon, though oddly this year there were no big-name headliners, and another Dance Stage in Soho Square which featured a great line-up of club DJs.

Rhubarb originated in the Asian Steps, and the plant was previously known only as a medicine: Rhubarb roots are useful as a cathartic in case of constipation. The leaves are poisonous, but in the 17th century the steals proved to be edible. In Belgium and the Netherlands, rhubarb is grown from about 1900.

As strange as it may seem, John D. Rockerfeller’s Standard Oil Company, known for its dominance in the oil industry, ventured into producing a petroleum product marketed as a remedy for constipation. The product was made by boiling crude petroleum to remove lighter oils, packing what was left in small bottles, and selling it as “Nujol.”
Mineral oil could cause diarrhea and that property of Nujol made it a laxative. But was it safe? Without test results, the ad features bold claims about the product, such as;
“Nujol removes poisons from the system, and gives the tissues of the body a chance to build up and resist disease. . . Nujol is not habit forming . . .
“It is especially fine for young mothers, as it is not absorbed into the system, and therefore in no way affects the child . . .”
Ah, the reassuring trifecta of early advertising: eliminating invisible "poisons," being "non-habit forming," and, of course, safe for everyone—including expectant mothers. It’s fascinating how ads from that era leaned heavily into these comforting claims to ease any hesitations about trying their products. This ad uses visual and rhetorical appeals to sell not just a product but a lifestyle or philosophy.
“The Athlete’s First Principle is to Keep His System Clean.”
The use of what looks like an ancient Greek statue evokes a sense of classical ideals, health, and strength, which aligns well with the message they were promoting. Pairing that with the bold statement about the athlete’s principles gives it an air of authority and timeless wisdom – perfect for convincing consumers back in 1917.
There are plenty of bold claims about not letting your body absorb poisons because anything from a headache to the most serious illness may result from such absorption, as “your doctor will tell you." Statements like that were quite the persuasive tactic, leaning on the authority of medical professionals to bolster trust, even when the science was a bit hazy. The fear of “absorbing poisons” cleverly played on anxieties about health, suggesting that constipation was the lurking villain behind every ailment, from minor discomforts to life-threatening conditions.
The combination of scare tactics about toxins and health risks with the promise of a simple solution like Nujol must have made the ad incredibly persuasive at the time. Nujol was sold as a laxative for many years. A court case from 1927 mentions that by the end of 1927, the company had invested significantly in advertising and had sold millions of bottles. Nujol is still used today as a lubricant laxative to help soften stool and make bowel movements easier.

Pebble had to see the vet for dental extractions (five teeth) this week.
During the course of Pebble's dental intervention, we decided to take advantage of the anaesthetic and had abdominal x-rays taken to see whether these would provide a clue as to why Pebble appears to be constipated at times and has a tendency to scoot across the carpet after visiting the toilet for a number 2.
I am now pleased to present the two most expensive images taken this year so far :-)
The vet's verdict on these images was after all inconclusive but he remarked that Pebble has an extraordinary amount of sublumbar muscle.
More on the x-rays and this week's feline veterinary exploits are available here: makedoandmendnovice.blogspot.com/2021/04/pebbles-trip-to-...

"The evidence is consistent and compelling that vegetarians suffer less from the
diseases associated with the typical Western diet. Vegetarians have repeatedly
been shown to have lower rates of obesity, coronary heart disease, hypertension,
type II diabetes, diverticular disease, constipation and gall stones. They also
have lower rates of many kinds of cancer, including colon cancer and the hormone
dependent cancers such as prostate cancer, breast cancer, uterine cancer and
ovarian cancer. ...Tragically, one in every three children born this year in the
U.S. will develop diabetes in their lifetime."

Health enthusiast W.K. Kellogg began producing his famous “Kellogg’s Corn Flakes” in 1906. After that, ready-to-eat cereals transformed the breakfast meal for children as well as adults.
During the 1920s, FDA developed methodology to determine the bran content of cereals in order to take action against “exaggerated and false claims.” By 1929, this 1926 ad for Kellogg’s PEP cereal, describing it as a “laxative bran food” and claiming that bran “helps keep off constipation” would have made it a target for misbranding charges.

Hemoroidy – wylecz zanim będzie za późno!
Wbrew powszechnemu przekonaniu ma je każdy z nas. Bo hemoroidy to nie choroba! To struktury naczyniowe odpowiadające za wypróżnianie się. Z chorobą mamy do czynienia dopiero, gdy się powiększą,
a stanowi temu towarzyszą pieczenie, świąd i krwawienie. Co...
He was the most beautiful newborn I ever saw (said with the biased
stand of a proud parent!) I thought babies were supposed to be all
purplish and wrinkled when they first arrived. Sean was powdery fair
with rosy cheeks. Perhaps it's got something to do with his being
carried to full term. In fact, he arrived two days after his e.d.d..
Whenever people ask me how the labour went, I would say it's just like
a bad case of constipation or menstrual cramps. Then again, my labour
only lasted about 4 and a half hours from the time I woke up at 3am and
discovered the 'show'. Got Weng Cheu to time my contractions and
realised they were five minutes apart. Finally!
One thing I know - the laughing gas didn't help with the contractions.
What worked better was hubby's advice to not concentrate on the pain. I
remember trying hard to distract myself with nice beautiful thoughts.
Strangely, an expense of green pasture kept cropping up in my mind.
The best advice I can give to would-be mothers is that squatting helps.
In a bid to clear my bowels once and for all, I squatted on the bed pan
in the delivery ward, and discovered that the dull aching sensation on
my back which accompanied every contraction disappeared. So, when the
next round of contraction came, I anchored myself piggy-back style onto
Weng Cheu, who sat at the end of the bed and pushed like I was having a
severe bout of constipation. When the nurse next came in to check on
the dilation, it had increased from 2cm to about 8cm! All that was
needed after that was simply to wait for Dr Phyllis Liauw to come and
burst the water bag!
Out with the amniotic fluid burst baby, before doctor had time to make
a snip. Imagine the tear ... jagged and reaching down all the way! So
for the short labour that I enjoyed, I suffered for the next three
weeks from the stitches.
I remember crying to hubby in the maternity ward (after all the
visitors had left) but once the nurse wheeled in our precious bundle
for breastfeeding (make that TOTAL breastfeeding) I simply tell myself
that all the pain was worth it!

Digestion:
The right contact points on the body can also stimulate digestion. Traditional Chinese medicants used to use the treatment procedures to treat digestive problems like flatulence, diarrhea and constipation. As a result, the benefits of acupuncture become apparent in treating the digestive system as well.

On April 16, 1865, John Pemberton was wounded at the Battle of Columbus, the last official battle of the American Civil War, and soon became addicted to morphine. Attempting to cure his addiction, Pemberton eventually developed "Pemberton's French Wine Coca", made of coca, kola nut and damiana, and offered to "scientists, scholars, poets, divines, lawyers, physicians, and others devoted to extreme mental exertion" as a way to solve "nerve trouble, dyspepsia, mental and physical exhaustion, gastric irritability, wasting diseases, constipation, headache, neurasthenia and impotence". However in 1885, Fulton County (Atlanta) went dry, causing Pemberton to scramble for a new way to sell a non-alcoholic version of his drink. With the help of druggist Willis Venable, Pemberton eventually developed a way to mix his base with carbonated water, which with the help of marketer Frank Robinson, was renamed, "Coca-Cola".

went to a bodybuilding show last weekend ... very surreal experience ...
the colors are obviously not quite right, although most of the participants had fake tans and looked funny ...
Poor little guy was just clogged up.
This has given me pause to wonder if my life as a chronic under achiever has been due to chronic childhood constipation? I guess that's as good an excuse as any.
Thought I'd look more fierce in B&W... a guy at work said I don't pull off being mad very well. I think I have the reputation of a pussycat. I guess there are worse things I could be.

“Suffered from dysentery at Lemnos and sustained shrapnel wounds in the head and both arms in France. Mrs Wade became engaged to her husband in August, 1914 and the couple had intended to be married in September, 1915 but, due to Mr Wade’s war service, the marriage was delayed until late 1920.
Mr Wade, after his return from military service was frequently in indifferent health and suffered from severe headaches, acute dyspepsia and constipation. He became helpless in 1933 and died in 1935 at the age of 45 years, leaving Mrs. Wade and three children aged respectively 3, 8 and 13 years.
Dr Gilmore of Auckland Hospital made out an adverse report. This was not authenticated and no biopsy was carried out.
Earlier efforts for a pension having failed, an appeal was made to the Ombudsman who said he had no jurisdiction.
Mrs Wade feels that she is very justly entitled to a pension and enquires whether you will please take the matter up for her.
Doctors’ opinions vary, but Mrs Wade feels here is no reasonable doubt. Correspondence relating to previous efforts is enclosed.
Mrs Wade also asks that the Gallipoli medal be awarded to her late husband.”
