~6 month old baby girl hamadryas baboon (Papio hamadryas) named "Christina" is getting more independent.
Originally from the Frankfort Zoo, Christina lives with her mom and dad in a troop of 20 baboons in the Ethiopian Highlands habitat of San Diego Zoo. Conservation status: least concern.
Focused more on the body this time around. The black eyes absorb so much light. They are super dark. 1X Magnification. Pulaski County Missouri.

On safari in Zambia, the grass was so tall it almost seemed impossible to find anything. Then on the road, we saw a pride of lions coming toward us using the road as well. It seemed they were tired of being swatted in their faces as well!
You can see their covered walkway that they have made - to protect themselves during daylight hours. Termite die in direct sunlight. The covered walkways also mean that their predators are unable to attack them.

Duck Creek is a wonderful place to fish or just watch wildlife. It's in Southeast Missouri near Puxico. The pools were flooded, leaving many trees standing in the water. The surviving ones are cypress.
A member of the education staff holds a ball python, native to southern Sudan.
Zoos exist for conservation education, which I believe is highly needed in our time.
