'Truth or Consequences', on a map in the 'Free Flight Atlas'. Sort of puzzling name for a town, eh?

I made a search, and enriched my knowledge of North America by one more 'quantum of trivia'.. :)

It is sooooo late 20th century of me to see the homosexuality simmering beneath the surface of this ad found in a 1976 issue of The New Yorker.

The nature and pace of climate changes being observed today and the consequences projected by consensus scientific opinion are serious and pose severe risks for our national security. The CNA Military Advisory Board (MAB), a group of more than a dozen admirals and generals from all four branches of the U.S. military, first published a report on these threats in 2007. After nearly a decade of advances in scientific understanding and slow, or in many cases non-existent, reactions to projected changes, the MAB felt compelled to provide an update.

Join us in a discussion with MAB members and report authors on what has changed and why the national security implications of climate change are still important. During their decades of experience in the U.S. military, the members of the MAB have addressed many national security challenges, from containment and deterrence of the Soviet nuclear threat during the Cold War to terrorism and extremism in recent years. The national security risks of the changing climate, they contend, are as serious as any of these.

It's not a very good scan...I stole it from Basick Record's Facebook status. If I get a better one will replace.

On recent visits to Southampton's Mayflower Park to view cruise ships, I have noted several vehicles parked on this stretch of pavement opposite 101 berth. The pavement is clearly delineated as such and the park has adequate parking in marked spaces.

Goodness only knows what happened here but one might reasonably surmise that a vehicle, which should not have been there anyway, damaged the railings which, happily, were robust enough to prevent it from entering the water.

Predicting the consequences of global warming is one of the really difficult tasks for the world’s climate researchers. Location France (As this shot took in a Train you can see a refraction on picture)

We found a few red-capped robin-chats with this affliction to their legs, some worse, some just in the starting phase.

Scaly leg mites are responsible for the growths (Knemidocoptes mutans) that can lead to loss of toes and sometimes even limbs. Badly affected birds will loose condition and eventually die of malnutrition. The mites are microscopic relatives of ticks. They spend their complete life cycle under the skin of birds. I wouldn't be surprised if the sewerage environment has this burden as a price...

Cons and Consequences (The Least Among Us), 57” x 57” (145 cm x 145 cm), latex, acrylic, gesso, ink, crayon, pencil, glitter glue, artist tape, masking tape on paper, 2020 (and before), Daniel Kerkhoff, from the series: The Least Among Us.

The Least Among Us

These are older paintings, sketches, and

mixed-media pieces, mostly. Ones that I

didn’t think were working by themselves.

Now, torn and ripped into pieces, collaged

and glued together, joined with newer

paintings and mixed-media pieces.

Reminding me of a crazy quilt, a patchwork

containing my history, a journal of my

painting, my art practice and associations,

noticing separate parts, discarded fragments,

joined, more lively now, dimensional,

connecting with others, unifying,

expansive relationships,

a document expressing my nomadic

existence, my residencies, reminding

me of parchments, folding like a blanket

and able to fit into my suitcase or store

under a bed, a narrative, with their

hide-like quality and creases and

wear, an aging fragility, with titles

that also connect me. From the series, “The

Least Among Us”, relating to the Bible quote:

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one

of the least of these brothers and sisters of

mine, you did for me” (Mathew 25:40, NIV),

contemplating vulnerability, our

interconnectedness and interdependence

with each other, all of us, each of us a

part of this whole, circular, organic,

also in pieces, muddied, torn with

wrinkles and unwanted marks,

collaged, relating, and together.

Consequences Drug Use

* The annual economic cost of substance abuse to the U.S. economy is estimated at over $414 billion.1

* There are more deaths, illness, and disabilities from substance abuse than from any other preventable health condition. One in four deaths is attributable to alcohol, tobacco, and illicit drug use.1

* At least half of adults arrested for major crimes — including homicide, theft, and assault — tested positive for drugs at the time of their arrest. Among those convicted of violent crimes, approximately half of state prisons inmates and 40% of federal prisoners had been drinking or taking drugs at the time of their offense.1

* Of newly diagnosed HIV cases in the U.S. 32% occur among injecting drug users or people who have had sexual contact with theme.1

* Among full-time workers, heavy drinkers and illicit drug users are more likely than those who do not drink heavily or use illicit drugs to have skipped work in the past month or have worked for three or more employers in the past year.1

* Alcohol and drug abuse are factors in the placement of more than 75% of children entering foster care.1

* Drug-related deaths have more than doubled since the early 1980s.2

* More than one-third of all AIDS deaths in the United States have occurred among injecting drug users and their sexual partners. AIDS among this group is a major cause of illicit drug-related deaths, with a disproportionate impact on minority Americans.1

Dinah, the daughter Leah had borne to Jacob, left her city to see the “women of the land”. Shechem, son of Hamor and ruler of the area she was visiting, took Dinah and raped her. Afterward, he fell in love with Dinah. He said to his father, “Get me this girl as my wife.”

The Documentation Center Nazi Party Rallying Grounds (German: Dokumentationszentrum Reichsparteitagsgelände) is a museum in Nuremberg. It is in the north wing of the unfinished remains of the Congress Hall of the former Nazi party rallies. Its permanent exhibition "Fascination and Terror" is concerned with the causes, connections, and consequences of Nazi Germany. Topics that have a direct reference to Nuremberg are especially taken into account. Attached to the museum is an education forum.
