Our first hive set up last summer is bursting at the seams with active bees this spring.
I'm still learning to read the signs as far as photographing them is concerned but hopefully I'll get more confident and competent with experience!

Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis) males are striking royal blue above with bright orange throat and breast and bright white belly. Females are paler overall; grayish with orange on breast and sides of neck, and white belly. In this picture an adult male is sitting on a dried thistle.

Rosellas are in a genus that consists of six species and nineteen subspecies. These colourful parrots from Australia are in the genus Platycercus. Platycercus means broad-tailed or flat-tailed, reflecting a feature common to the rosellas and other members of the broad-tailed parrot tribe. Their diet is mainly seeds and fruit. There are, broadly speaking, three groups of rosella species. They are the blue-cheeked species which includes elegans and caledonicus, the white-cheeked species, eximius, adscitus and venustus and the yellow-cheeked species, icterotis. 16558

So... the next three shots are about ducks, as we all love a duck don't we... This is an immature male in eclipse plumage.
The immature/non-breeding male shovelers are easy to spot in the crowd, as they tend to swim with their heads back and bills level or slightly turned up. Whereas the adult males, even in 'eclipse' move in a far more confident manner, heads up and bills pointed more downwards. Catcott, Somerset.
