The new West Street pedestrian underpass (the West Concourse, formerly the "east-west connector") links the WTC station mezzanine with a new transit pavilion at Battery Park City's Brookfield Place (formerly World Financial Center) on the west side of the World Trade Center site just south of 1 WTC and across West Street. It opened on the afternoon of October 23, 2013. Access to 1 World Trade Center from the West Concourse was also possible for employees when the tower opened on November 3, 2014. On May 29, the same day the tower's observatory opened, the entrance to the observation deck opened.(Wikipedia)

The concourse is part of the $4 billion redevelopment plan of the World Trade Center and the new PATH transportation center designed by architect Santiago Calatrava that is set to be completed by 2015.

Ever since I got my camera, I have been meaning to capture this shot at Chicago O'Hare Airport between the B and C Concourse of the United Airline Terminals. For some reason, that opportunity did not present itself until recently. So during my layover, I spent that time below ground snapping away. I love the neon lights above and the colored squares because they look like a paint palette you would see at Home Depot. This is such a dynamic environment whisking travelers from one end to the other.

This neon light installment is known as "Sky's the Limit". A 23,600 sq. ft. of mirror reflecting over 1 mile of "neon", controlled by 3 solid state computers.

This is a view of the Grand Concourse in the Bronx. This thoroughfare runs for over five miles. Called "the Park Avenue of middle-class Bronx residents," it was built between 1894 and 1909, with an additional extension in 1927, It's known for the Art Deco-style buildings that we see here.

Commuters mill about the main concourse of the MBTA's Back Bay Station. The third train station at this location in the Back Bay, the current station opened in 1987 as part of the MBTA's Southwest Corridor project re-aligning and burying the Orange Line, previously running on elevated tracks. It continues its role as a major multi-modal passenger station serving subway, commuter rail, and Amtrak trains as well as buses and is an important stop on the Northeast Corridor and amongst the busiest stations in the country. Had a great time with Gary (the sexy trainspotter mentioned before) visiting the new concourse at King's Cross Station.

There place was full of police and I expected to be stopped taking photographs. I was pleasantly surprised that there were many photographers, taking photos in full view of the police and no one was stopped.

The former Norfolk & Western Railway depot's concourse in Roanoke VA stood unused on the evening of July 17, 1992. The concourse allowed passengers to access the multiple platforms from the station's waiting room without having to cross the tracks at grade. Passenger service ended on May 1, 1971 when Amtrak took over most of the nation's passenger trains. The N&W trains were not included in Amtrak's initial plans and were dropped as soon as the N&W was allowed to. Unfortunately, the concourse was demolished a few years after this slide was exposed in order to make room for double stack intermodal trains to run up the "H Line" to Hagerstown MD where a connection was made with Conrail. The station itself became the O Winston Link museum honoring the brilliant photographer who masterfully captured the N&W on film both at night and during the day.

Did take a few here but the station is so interesting its always worth revisiting.

Another take on the Concourse Building, opened in 1928, one of the art deco gems of Bay Street, Toronto's financial district. Or, what's left of the Concourse. Only the facade of the old building was retained, then incorporated in the new EY (Ernst & Young) Tower that soars 40 storeys directly above at 100 Adelaide Street West.

The interior of the restored brutalist masterpiece, Preston Bus Station.

The two buildings are connected by a walkway beneath 4th street, called "the Concourse" on the museum's map. In 2008, the National Gallery of Art commissioned American artist Leo Villareal to transform the Concourse into an artistic installation. Today, Multiverse is the largest and most complex light sculpture by Villareal featuring approximately 41,000 computer-programmed LED nodes that run through channels along the entire 200-foot (61 m)-long space. The concourse also includes the food court and a gift shop.

This is an underground connection between West & East Building of National Gallery of Art in D.C. It is simply an amazing array of light patterns witch make us, photographers, go nuts! I was there for at least an hour! I was taking pictures and videos and I was trying to find a perfect angle. More to come!

Gorgeous building.

It was completed in 1906.

The Concourse is a mixed-use development, comprising a 41-story office tower, a three-level retail podium and nine storeys of serviced apartments. The three distinct components, with their different usage, have separate entrances. These overlook the traditional low-rise shophouses and office blocks in the Beach Road area. [Wikipedia]
