Exploring the intimate spaces of a single photogaph that was found at the thrift store recently, one which had clearly been cherished. I found the gunk on the frame interesting. I gave it a cursory cleaning and then realized I didn't want to fight the gunk remnant of the original price sticker, since this was left by the original owner. It drew a sort of picture, but a wrong picture. I could impute (emotionally laden) characteristics to this theoretical "picture owner." Or even physical characteristics could be hallucinated. They might struggle with age or a disability that made cleaning a picture frame a greater difficulty than it would be for most of us. The picture was a bad but charming photo. The picture held meaning for me because of you,

you who don't exist. You have invested me in you through this funny trance state which the mediums of yesteryear sought to induce (for moolah). Your dog party with its window that makes the whole thing look a bit like a movie set. A grungy movie set, but one deliberately so. The dogs seem very self-aware. There is a reverence, I remember seeing people venerating yesterday. As I was driving. I thought it was strange. To see people venerating. Half were in a courtyard and half were in a parking lot. Yes, they were old and most looked frail. I don't put any additional import upon such facts.

More CANDIDS will follow as and when.

Conceptual Photography: Pick an abstract concept, and try to shoot it, conveying that idea

La misma historia de siempre es la que persigue, huyendo de ella pero siempre envuelve y absorbe. Es una costumbre la cotidianidad.

Cold heart makes good

Bright lines have deceit

One could make it solid

But I don’t give a damn

Hold out

Anyway I want it all

I remember being immersed into music when I was a teenager. Every song I rocked out, jammed to, or blared had a message that spoke to me. Music determines or enhances mood, emotion. I think the teenage years are probably the roughest and if the music that understood got me through it. My concept was to interpret "Teenage Dream" into a visual piece. This fourteen year old boy is a gay youth drowning in small town, small-mindedness, but is determined he will get through it.

Para proceder a una "Nueva normalidad", (por favor) rompa la Realidad.

Scott is an English teacher in the United States of America. His prized possession is his typewriter. Shot with Fuji Provia 100, a Nikon N90s, a gold reflector and natural light. Location: The side of the 101 Freeway in Southern California; luckily we were almost finished before "Ponch and John" decided to break it up and send us on our way.

The conceptual site plan was designed by Jeffrey Gordon Smith in 2006, before we even broke ground. Jeffrey worked with Leonard on the site plan including the location and orientation of the house and possible future structures on this 1-1/2 acre site. The house was skewed in relationship to the property lines in order to make the courtyard south-facing for "Harvesting" solar heat and light. Additionally, the west wing shelters the courtyard from the prevailing wind off of the ocean, creating a warm microclimate.

For this photo I obviously took a conceptual approach to reflection. One one hand, these two sculptures almost look like a literal reflection of one another. On the other hand, they're a reflection of the rich culture of our city.
