The future of home computing

Governor Kay Ivey was the keynote speaker during the luncheon portion of the Alabama Computer Science Education Summit, Wednesday March 14, 2018 in Montgomery, Ala. During Governor Ivey's remarks, she will also be announcing her "Governor's App Challenge which will be presented and judged at next year's summit.

The Governor's App Challenge will be a statewide contest similar to a science fair for computer science and coding. Judges will be selected by the Governor's Advisory Council for Computer Science Education. Rules will be announced in June 2018. (Governor's Office, Hal Yeager)

Mixing a party band's audio is not what I want to do after a 8 hour show consisting of 21 venture capital presentations. I'm tired, I'm bored, I'm going home.

Last week I gave a presentation on digital photography in my Computer Applications... but I totally botched it because none of my images showed up on my power point... (boy have I learned a lot in that class). So after my failure of a presentation the class went out and took photos. yay.

Having a computer charger is IMPERATIVE to an online class. If your computer dies in the middle of an online exam, depending on your teacher, you cannot go back and re-do it.

I hate my laptop, but I love the semi-clear keyboard.

I'm looking at a photo on the flickr site by my blog buddy Suzi Jane. the photo i'm checking out is here

What more could I want?

Stop it.

You are a lamp.

You don't even have ears.

The G5 is a thing of beauty. Noisy as buggery, though. San Diego, California, May 2004.

In a fit of consumerist glee I bought this. The computer was so huge that I

had to return it. Very nicely built, the Coolermaster case was aptly named:

it was about the size of a cooler. It could also be called the

"Refrigeratormaster" if you ask me! Thank goodness for Costco's return

policy.

on their respective computers. I think this was the first time that all 3 kids have actually been on their computers at the same time!!!!

The average was three to a computer

I worked in the DEC building for a few days.

Funny story,

Thanks to the recent heatwave the power supply fan has warped and one of the blades now hits the grill.

To fix it I've undone one of the screws and bent the grill out over part of the case. Your basic Macgyer solution.

Charles Babbage's Difference Engine.

This difference engine was built for a wealthy collector in America by a museum in Britain. They built two; one for their museum and one for the collector. This one is on loan to the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA.

We saw a demonstration of the Engine; it's quite beautiful.
