Received a crate today at a customer site. Apparently the computer that came with our new CCD X-ray generator bias alignment computer thingie was from Japan, along with the CCD detector and everything else. It was a good thing they decided to translate the software. I was just a bit surprised to see the keyboard with the Japanese characters, kinda kewl and something to at least liven up my day.
All of my life the doors have been closed now. And all of my dreams have been locked up inside. But you came along and captured my heart, girl. You're the key to my life

...And proud of it!
Have you ever heard of Gnu/Linux operating system? If not, it is is a Unix-like computer operating system assembled under the model of free and open source software development and distribution.
In short, an operating system which is free as freedom, where you can tweak it to something that very personal, and free as a free beer, well, most of it.
Ah, and yes, the mascot of the kernel, the brain of an operating system is Tux, the Penguin.

It's been like this for months, only sometimes it still works, which makes it exciting for me each time I open my laptop, as I never really know what to expect. I've had this thing for almost five years now, it's traveled every single mile I have, gone through a few falls and what not, so all in all I'm not complaining. That said, I AM kinda hoping some exec from Apple sees this and takes pity on me, (as a hardworking, idealistic young social entrepreneur and campaigner) and generously bestows upon me a new one. That would be cool.
I was issued a new computer at work, a Dell Latitude 630 to replace my old 600 whose warranty had expired. Nothing fancy, it works very well for my needs.
The mousepad didn't work either. I had to plug one into the USB all the time. More importantly I was all out of hard drive.

This image was captured using hipstamatic on iphone 4, lit with a regular desktop lamp. Simple but effective.
Desktop computers were used for class subjects such as math, science, history, and engineering. This allowed students to deal with situations that one most likely would run into in the real world. One computer program that was used for education in history was The Oregon Trail. This game was about the route that the pioneers took to the Pacific Northwest. The students traveled along the rivers and states that the pioneers took. The game also included the illness that the pioneers would have encountered and the students needed to heal them.
The reason I chose Desktop computers is because they really have not been part of education until the most recent years. Computers are now involved in most classes and is part of their teaching process. The relevance of computers is that students now can access information quicker and prepare their essays in more of a professional way. This also allows teachers to be able to organize the schedule faster than before. Computers are emerging and evolving so quickly and they are involved in education in many ways. One way is allowing people like me to be able to attend higher education from my home.
