". . . but that is quite alright! We've got a broom and mop in ol' Janitor Bob's closet just down the corridor. It's too bad we had to incinerate him--dear oh dear... Anyway, once you've tidied up, you can start bringing in the furnerature! It's all the way in the heli-depot on the other side of the island, but new recruits are always happy for some adventurous excercise through the cyborg humanzee-infested jungle! Oh, and you'll have to assemble all the bunk beds and lockers by this time tomorrow morning, or else! Cheerio!"
Here's a reconstruction of the barracks wall-segment, included with a floor and a lovely sliding door! The first version (way back in the "Evil Genius" album) was too tall, and worse--it didn't leave for a big enough of a cavity for a door to slide into. Fixed!! (:
That shelving is one heckuva pitcher with a killer curveball: the upper row of shelves is merely "pinched in" by the other bricks, and it still isn't clear if it will work in inside/outside corners. The foundation and dirt are for dramatic effect. It's pretty dramatic.
So guys, help! What shall we name our new recruit? If he's going to be one of our minions, we must give him a new name to boost his loyalty to our cause!
How many times we have been asked not to take pictures in the public places?
I do believe the golden age of street photography for masters like Cartier Bresson are gone forever.
The people nowadays and the laws in modern societies and big cities are less tolerant of candid shots and street photography.
I like candid shots. Once you communicate with the persons by anyway, you won't get the same expression or moment again.

This is my contribution to the Ripley's Unconventional Art Contest (see www.deviantart.com/go/journal/Ripley-s-Unconventional-Art...). Due to the tight deadline, I used a virtual background scene created for an earlier picture, but combined it with a new model scene. The background scene is a compilation of several edited screenshots of the computer game 'Homefront: The Revolution'. The original screenshots were provided by in-game photographer Xanvast (www.flickr.com/photos/xanvast).
There are two aspects that make this picture unique in the sense of this contest:
The combination of 1950/60s train models with a dystopian near-future environment creates kind of a weird atmosphere. When looking at this picture, while everythings looks quite realistic, something is obviously completely wrong. The atmosphere is somehow disturbing. Due to the hidden time gap it looks as if the entire scene has fallen out of time. Can this really be true? Believe it or not!
From the technical point of view, the mixed-media approach of combining a physical model scene with a virtual environment is a quite unconventional art technique. I applied this technique in many of my pictures. It differs both from usual digital art and from traditional diorama modelling art. So, it brings two worlds together.

Here's Jena's take on an original character from the setting of the computer and video game "Fallout 3," the best-selling post apocalyptic rpg.
I'm so spoiled in Nepean, as if I want to buy used PlayStation 2 or even Sega Dreamcast games, besides Merivale Blockbuster, there are two EB Games stores in Nepean alone, on Merivale and in Bayshore Shopping Centre, and a Microplay store inside Jumbo Video.
The Merivale EB Games store is located in a sub mini-mall in the parking lot of the Merivale Market strip mall (the strip mall with Loeb and Best Buy), along with Magicuts and Mr. Big and Tall.
