Wherever they've been sleeping, all night, they come quickly to take over the computer desk when I sit down and try to log in.
Not complaining .... just saying.
This is hub of my life right here. Usually have my laptop hooked up to the TV too so I can multitask. Logging orders for my website, connecting with the world on Twitter, sharing my newest tees on my Facebook fan page, printing shipping labels...and just goofing off. I love my set up!
We always knew the desk I had was a temporary thing until I found a desk I like that was in our price range. A couple weeks ago while out on my walk, I wandered into Target and this desk was on display. I walked up to it and it had everything I wanted in a desk, and more. So the next day I took Rod to show it him and we discovered it was on sale at $100 off. They had one flat-pack left, so we bought it. At the time, we didn't realise how heavy the flat-pack was --- 65 kilos. That's 143 pounds! Rod says most of the weight was screws. There were over two dozen packets of screws for various purposes. It took 2 days for him to assemble it for me.
The purple drawers were a set of cheap plastic drawers I'd bought sometime ago. I was thrilled they fit in the cubby hole though. One of the best things is that I can finally have all my reference books near my computer again. I can look things up online, but sometimes a nice browse through the thesaurus or dictionary can be a rewarding experience (yeah, I know, I'm weird).
My two webcams show in this photos (just follow the cords). Also, the backing inside the bookcase and behind the monitor area was the same green colour as the drawers and keyboard drawer, but Rod used up what was left of my purple spray paint to give it a bit of an artistic look. At the top, it blends in with my neon light photo ... almost like a bit of a 'smudge' effect. This wasn't planned, it just happened.
built it up from scratch. the legs on both the desk (CURRY) & the monitor platform (CAPITA) are from Ikea. the rest is just laminate, plywood & chrome edging.

I took this photo Jan 10, 2009 to generate conversations. My husband built this for me in 2008 because I wanted to be able to stand up while I worked (too many hours on the computer). I decided to take an "honest" photo -- this is often what my workspace looks like. Too much to do, too many things started at one time, but it's nice! To the right you see our pugs' doggie bed/crate. To the left (unseen) is our woodstove to warm me. In front of me is our livingroom area, where my husband is often watching TV while I work (he wears a headset so I don't have to listen to the sound). There are many things visible in this photo to generate questions and comments. I hope you'll ask me!
