I Needed a desk and display buffet in the same spot so I combined the two and made this Pallet Computer Desk/Buffet Table.

How I built this Pallet Computer Desk/Buffet Table:

First, I built the two sets of table legs. Then, I framed out the table top. I added the two shelves for storage and stability. I used more deck boards to cover the table top and two shelves. I added the angled bracing at each side to make it sturdier. I sanded it all down until it was fairly smooth, and then stained it.

It has become a beautiful and functional addition to my home.

A simple, birchwood desk. It has no drawers or a place to put the keyboard. It's plain, simple, & clean.

The shelf was added on top of it for extra "clutter" space.

After using the wood burning stove for winter, this weekend it get covered up and my front room moved around for 6 months!

This custom computer desk and shelf was built with Kee Lite pipe fittings and pipe. The shelves and desk top were made from a pressed laminent and cut to fit into the desk outline. Additionally this desk has two swing out sections to make the more space when required. An amazing desk! Learn more about this diy swing out desk.

Originally the desk was a fake wood desk that I got at Good Will for $10. It looked pretty ugly and gloomy at the time, but with some paint and ripped out magazines/manga pages (those large cheaply printed manga "phone books") the desk looks a lot more cheerful now! ^__^

My iMac (screen adjusted to my height... or rather, lack thereof), iSight webcam, and other computer stuff. Located in a corner of my dining room... a family area... even though the family has flown the coop.

This is when the area is relatively neat, which doesn't happen often, so I figured it was as good a time as any to make a permanent record of the event.

The computer (CPU, disk drives) is located in the half "snowball" base.

Under the calendar is my favorite coffee mug (well, herbal tea mug, really) which has painted on it a beautiful forest scene and a scripture:

"All things work together for good, for those who love God"

— Romans 8:28, not sure which version

A dusty calculator at my sister's computer desk.

I was at my sister's house yesterday evening and her camera has auto bracketing. I took some photos and brought them home with me last night and put them together. I really like the auto bracketing feature because you don't have to manually change the exposure for each shot you take. Very nice.

Norio on my lap at my computer desk in California in October of 2015. When Assam was sleeping in one of her many nests, Norio usually took the opportunity to sit on my lap.

what i semi-bitterly call the pine box of doom. a couple of years ago zoran's music equipment finally overtook the den and i was forced out into the living room. i bought this so called computer armoire at ikea, but it's really just a pine box - you know, like a freaking cheap coffin. if i wasn't planning on being cremated one day (hundreds of years from now when i'm the oldest women ever to have lived and finally croak. heh) i'd resent this thing even more 'cause sometimes being confined to such a small space makes me feel 6 feet under.

lots of you have seen my desk already, sorry to be boring but i was even more bored and had to do something, anything.

I made a desk out of a couple of sawhorses and an untreated door from Lowe's. Probably cost more than finding something on Craigslist, but I get to draw all over this one.

Bought a new Dell IPS monitor to go with my old faithful Hyundai L90D+

My writing desk in it's new location after my move a couple months ago.

I really need to re-paint and collage my desk. Also next time I am SO going to put a nice thick clear coat of something on the top so that the collage doesn't get worn away by the many tea spills that occur at my desk.

An angle shot of the corner mini-office space. I could've used the spare bedroom for this, but decided to leave it in the large living room.

Our old computer desk was damaged during the overseas move.

Sort of the full computer set-up that the poster carries when he travels, although the main component, the computer, has been replaced (not discarded, it wasn't quite powerful enough, and the screen wasn't large enuf, but it works OK at home, where it is now left...) The cell phone seen has also been upgraded (from a Samsung Galaxy S3 to an S7...). There's a euro-zone DVD player also on the desk to the left. (also upgraded, to a Blu-Ray) Taken by a Voigtländer Bessa R4M with a Zeiss ZM Sonnar 50mm ƒ 1.5 T* lens on Kodak Portra 400 film. Exposure not remembered for certain, but probably on the order of 1/30 sec @ ƒ 1.5...

Taken in the Holiday Inn Express Hauptbahnhof in Frankfurt am Main, Germany on the date seen — yes, the Bessa is on another trip into Germany!

Scanned into computer by an Epson V700, and the Epson software.

The time on that screen is the time at my house, BTW ([American, I've heard that there's an Austrailian zone named this, too...] Pacific Standard Time) - I don't bother resetting the clocks in my camera or computer when I travel! (it's 10:27 AM local...) until I get home - and then only if I've gone 'round the world'! (when the date will be off!)

Yes, the two coffee cups seen on the right did make it back down to the Breakfast area, carried my me...

A shot of the computer desk before we start boxing everything up. This is what it looks like before the move. I love baskets to keep stuff in.

I've replaced this workhorse computer desk with something new, so it's time for this one to find a new home*!

It's an older model — the new ones don't have those angled hide-able shelves — but solid. You can buy newer accessories from ikea that will work with this. it is birch coloured with grey posts and side shelves.

Not pictured: it has another large shelf that sits back above the main one there, as well as post extensions and another thin shelf for up above.

It's currently all taken apart, i've got all the screws and parts ziplocked, and it's being offered for FREE to anyone in the Lower Mainland who's interested in swinging by to pick it up. Ping me and let me know if you want it ASAP!

This is currently cross-listed with freecycle vancouver — if you haven't heard of freecycle, it's a really great way for your things to find a new home instead of filling up a landfill.

* computer and computer bits not included, of course!

[update] someone is interested and is supposed to pick it up tomorrow. If that falls through i will contact other parties in order of email receipt — thanks!

Thanks to the MSH, I finally cleaned up my desk area. :) If next month's categories include "My kitchen", I'll be all set.

I thought I'd add some notes on this one. Enjoy!
