This custom computer desk and shelf was built with Kee Lite pipe fittings and pipe. The shelves and desk top were made from a pressed laminent and cut to fit into the desk outline. Since we had to take a picture of what represents us around the house for Assignment 3 I decided to take a picture of my computer desk in my room. Since I'm majoring in graphic design this is what I use to create my designs.

My desktop wallpaper is a mustang, because that is my favorite car. I actually own one now but in black [always wanted blue though] but haven't been able to drive it with the snow.

As you can also see I have a sketch book and a tablet. Which is another thing I like to do in my spare time. Drawing has been my first artistic talent. Now with the tablet I can outline and color my drawings digitally which is very fun but hard getting used to.

My old digital camera is still sitting on my computer desk as well if anyone paid attention to that. I've been trying to sell it but no luck.

For my Klingon friends from Denver, As they say this one is for you! Iam preparing for your visit in August!

I used to love this drive. It's got Firewire 800, 400 and USB connections. And it's rather cool looking. It's stackable too. I may get another.

And I did get another. And conveniently the first one died right after that. So as of this writing, I was down to one again. I've changed my mind. I won't be be getting another LaCie. I've read too many negative user reviews. LaCie drives seem to have an unusually high failure rate.

This just in..... both drives have now failed.

This is about how I spend a lot of my Sunday afternoons now, sitting at my computer, surrounded by papers, hip-deep in homework. It's not all bad - I have two windows to my right which let in sunlight and air and the white noise of road traffic going by, I have a cup of tea and water nearby, and of course, this dedicated workspace which helps me focus on schoolwork.

Sometimes when I get bored or frustrated, I remind myself that I am making the most meaningful investment to my future - my education. I hum "Pomp and Circumstance" to myself and reflect on the fact that two years from now, I'll be walking down that aisle to accept my Master's degree so I can go out in the world and teach my beloved language.

This is the new computer desk I got - I set it up last night and I'm actually very pleased with it oveall. (The second CPU there at the left is a temporary thing - once I get the last data off it, it's gone. It's an old Windows 98 box. But for now it's crammed in the foot-space.)

I really like this desk, it fits everything I need and still has space to be a desk. The drawer under the keyboard tray may go away, though - I'm trying to decide if it is leaving me enough room for my legs or not.
