SKL681X is currently off road due to a prop shaft oil leak, but we've started using her as a generator/compressor. This helps keep her engine in use while she's having the work done. Here she is assisting Nuw the Titan (NUW553Y) who had a flat tyre. This set up is ideal for locations that don't have access to an air supply. The air line is run from the gearbox supply (this not being needed as she's VOR). We're currently looking into installing this onto a roadworthy vehicle but with a splitter valve so it can do the gearbox or external supply at the flick of a switch. This set up delivers 95lb per square inch with the pressure tap opened up. Obviously the gearbox operates at a lower pressure so it would have to be turned down before being reconnected. Most bus tyres are around 115lb per square inch so this set up only gets you out of trouble, it's not a permanent fix.

Here's what's under the top plate of a CA monitor top. I wonder how many people know that the cabinet top is also used as part of the condenser - there's a semi circular profile tube running around the periphery between the condenser and float valve.

It will be easy to replace the wiring now. It has gone brittle and has numerous cracks in the insulation. The oil heater wire insulation had worn through where it was touching one of the copper tubes.

The compressor is held to the top plate by three tack welds. One has broken.

Next step is to clean all the surface rust off, re do the broken weld, and repaint.

Our refrigerator has been making funny noises for the last few months.

I am meticulous about cleaning the coils and thought this was some

sort of ice maker event. This week the compressor appears to have died

and I was out in the yard at 7 AM building emergency food shelves in

the battery dome to act as our temporary refrigeration unit. At this

point we have to make a decision. Do we continue with our "Energy

Star" 2000W per day fridge or do we start over with a modified chest

freezer with a 200W per day load.
