The complexity of the modern compound bow is simply amazing the accuracy that can be achieved with a competent shooter!
What would the American Indian's have given to have had this level of technology when the European's first arrived? Perhaps, a different outcome?

is getting a bull's eye!!!
Taken during the June archery shoot at Nevada County Sportsmen Club, 2023.
We’ve been anxious to share with you all our compound bow. It’s hard creating minifigure sized weapons, but we are particularly fond of how this one turned out. Hope you like it and feel free to make your own! We would love to see these catch on.
Here several Forestmen Sharpshooters ambush a scouting party sent by the tyrannical Lion Kingdom. We tried to show the different uses of the bow as well as a close up comparison. Minifigs can sling the bows across their backs, draw them back to fire, and more. Hope you all enjoy :D
The compound bow is made from six separate pieces and matches the size of the new elven bow produced by Lego. AND if you tweak it just right it can even FIRE the loaded arrows!!
This is a fully functional Lego Compound Crossbow. It is around 100 studs long - and combines several techniques that place the Legos under stress to undergo the significant tension of a compound cam with an idler wheel. We used Lego electronics to create the cables, and various wheel elements to distribute the compound pull function with various pulleys.
See it shoot in this video, along with a brief explanation of it!
This was created for our Iron Builder against the Erickson Brothers, and uses the green flexible spike piece as 1:1 scale crossbow bolt tips, viper fangs, a sight window, crosshairs, and trigger.
Here is a small elite faction (part of our Forestmen army) who have achieved the rank of Sharpshooter. They wield compound bows with expert marksmanship and are always the first choice in any castle defense or ambush.
P.S. Forestmen are our favorite minifigs. Many long term large projects in the works :)
So this video has some playful Iron Builder violence, and we wanted to take the chance to publicly couple it with an honest encouragement of both of the Erickson Brothers! Not to 'balance it out' whilst shooting at their sig figs, but because we don't ever want our respect and hearts towards them to be overshadowed by a Lego competition.
Mark and Steven are dear friends, who are deserving of and have our respect. As Lego builders they have constantly stretched themselves and produced high quality builds at an unequalled pace. In this Iron Builder alone they have produced more entries than anyone before them. No matter what the outcome, we doubt their performance will soon be forgotten =) As friends, we have had the privilege of spending a bit of time with them in person. They are kind and joyful. We, as well as so many others, were greatly blessed to see them at BrickFair this year. After spending any amount of time with them you can easily see a close knit family that supersedes two brothers sharing a box of Legos, and clearly stretches beyond that into walking out life together. Mark and Steven, you have our love and respect; and for anyone who may be confused or led to believe otherwise from playful smack or battle intensity, we hope this clarifies. May the last few days of this competition be ones to remember!

We used to complain about the noise...about the people... But now we sit in the ashes, and no one speaks a word.

Jennifer peers at the camera from behind her mask while out in the woods preparing for a deer hunt recently. Jennifer and her husband are avid hunters. She takes the sport serious, practicing her archer skills throughout the summer to prepare herself for Autumn when deer season opens. She's one of a growing number of women who are taking up the sport across the country.
Jennifer is Stranger number 40 in my 100 strangers project. You can find out more about the project at www.100strangers.com

This is one serious Bow with an equally serious arrow. The tip of this particular arrow is essentially 4 razor blades that are serrated on the back end! You do not want to be on the business end of one of these bad boys! I still don't think I can comprehend the amount sheer force behind an arrow on a bow of this kind. This particular composite took me quite sometime before it felt right. There are countless adjustment layers dealing with color, light and sharpness to name a few. If I had tried to create this 3 months ago, I would have posted it on day one even though it didn't quite feel complete. I couldn't bear to do that to this particular image. I slept on it at least a couple nights and made incremental changes as ideas came to me. Sometimes it's hard for me to give a project, I'm so excited about, some breathing room and time. It's like putting together an intricate puzzle. No one completes those in one sitting, and when your run into a brick wall the best thing you can do is walk away and come back later! Matt brought his bow into the studio here in West Seattle so as not to scare the bajesus out of passers by in public. The background was taken at Lincoln Park near the bluff overlooking Puget Sound. I posted a similar image on my facebook page with the fence located on the opposite side of the frame. Matt was lit with a large octa right behind me and the rims were b800's through medium sized stripboxes.
I would describe him as a cowboy archer shooter. And later to find out, a very good shooter in his own rights.

first practice after total bow disassemble for bowstring replacement. I understand that it takes time for the new Winners Choice bowstrings to stabilize, and no tuning and paper test has been done whatsoever, still I feel weird shooting this reassembled SupraMax, hope the response and feel would get better after tuning, I love how quiet it sounds though.
I really wonder if he bought this costume or made it. The Captain Jack in the background is pretty good too. But picking his teeth demoted that complement down a bit. Either way it was really good. Shot at Comic-Con 2008.
Ordered this three pin sight for Brünhilde. There is no longer any reason to miss the target. No, I am not a hunter, but I have taken quite an interest in archery.
The compound had been re-calibrated at 29.5 with a 70 pound draw and an added peep sight to accompany the Punisher 3.
