Sam's is sending a new composter to replace this one. I also got a $20 gift card for my inconvenience.

I mashed about in the back yard & woods, then decided to turn the big compost pile. Added stuff from to small bins. Inner core steaming! Wow!

I didn't turn my compost at all last winter and it froze. I'm gonna keep turning this winter to have garden compost early spring :)

Really something to see what looks like a pile of snow, is actually food & leaf waste breaking down to essential elements, high nutrient dirt.

Next is to build a removable panel to cover the open part.

I sifted the unfinished compost from bin #2 leaving the completed compost behind. I then placed the uncompleted compost and some worms into bin #1 with the other unfinished compost.

The Quayle and Epworth Jets Kids Cafe students are learning to compost this semester. They've been working hard each week and have already filled one of their bins with 800 pounds of food waste.

This bed is made almost entirely from the results of sifting one of the three compost pens

I have a confession to make:

I often catch myself admiring the beauty of a bowl of compost on its way out to the bin. In late March, I found myself with lots of fresh flowers heading out to compost, and I couldn't help but photograph them along the way. Forgive me.

Woo! We cleared the jungle out from this side of the house, hauled it away and built this over the last two days. It still needs a little bit more done to it but it's just about ready for throwing compost into.

It's approx 8x3 foot.. and I think it's maybe 2 foot high? I forget how tall.

There will be probably two more smaller ones as well
