Grey cloudy morning with light showers in Sydney today but still quite warm at 22C.

Looks like it will be the same the next few days!

Not every day is sunny.........but still beautiful as I love Sundays!

Have a lovely day everyone!

Monument to the great Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko. Many consider that the best monument to perpetuate among other ones of the poet. Besides the main figure on the top of the composition, poet also depicted in soldier's uniform in the center of the sculptural group surrounding the monument.

After a long day of hiking on the way to Song Kol Lake, Kyrgyzstan, it would be a pain in the legs to continue without a good night sleep.

Fortunately, at some point, you don't need to move to witness a change in scenery. You can instead trust the clouds to move for you.

And that's what they did, bringing hope to see a spectacular thunderstorm with our daily yurts in the foreground. I got quite excited.

Unfortunately though, the storm, for as long that I was up, never got closer. That lightning in the frame is the only one that I could get.

And, in the end, it didn't really matter. At least, unlike the night that would come after this one, no gust was trying to unearth the yurts from the ground. I could have my good night sleep.

A dead shell was floating. Ripples were formed in the wind. I thought it would be a nice composition!

A photo from my old album.

An alternative composition using the light shining on the distant mountains defying the clouds hanging around closer to the camera.

Beautiful stained glass windows at Queen Victoria Building with a man walking down the stairs.

The Queen Victoria Building, now affectionately known as the QVB, was designed by George McRae and completed in 1898.

It is one of Sydney's popular shopping centre.

The Crucifixion is at the centre of the altarpiece. Christ is represented as dying on the cross. The Blessed Virgin and Saint John stand on either side of the cross, while Mary Magdalene kneels at the foot. This “Calvary” stands on a small altar as a witness of the unity that exists between the sacrifice of the Cross and that of the Mass.

The way to heavenly bliss

The visual composition directed upwards toward the vault of the church indicates the way to eternal happiness in heaven, an ascent amid angels and stars against a deep blue background. This ascent, as a symbol of life, is traced in the sacrifice of Christ and in the Mass.

Statues of the prophets Isaiah and Daniel, carved by the sculptor Louis-Philippe Hébert in 1882, appear on the right and left sides of the altarpiece.

Over the choir stalls on the right and left sides are six polychrome (painted) statues.

First on the right is Saint Paul, with a sword of his martyrdom in Rome, where he was beheaded. Next are two evangelists and their respective symbols: Matthew, with a winged male figure, and Luke, with his winged ox.

To the left of the altar stands Saint Peter with his keys, and the rooster, recalling Peter’s betrayal of Jesus, his master and friend on the morning of His suffering and death. Then the other two evangelists: John, holding a chalice symbolizing his love for the Eucharist, with the eagle, a sign of his far-seeing gospel, and Mark with his winged lion.

Lines and curves in the dunes of the Namib desert in Sossusvlei National Park provide the photographer with many potential wonderful compositions. I am not saying this is wonderful but I tried! Image taken in Namibia.

Do you think the composition is too busy? Times Square, from this weeks little excursion to NYC. Three shots manually combined in Photoshop. My own homegrown version of HDR. I hesitate to use the term HDR, because looking around flickr, it seems that HDR is synonymous with... Looks like crap!

This was the last photo I got before being informed by one of New York's finest that there is no tripod photography allowed. Ever since 9-11, being a professional photographer sucks! Thanks Osama! I mean... If I am shooting a photo with a tripod in Manhattan... I must be a terrorist. What other possible reason could I have to shoot a photo with a tripod?
