This project was attempt to create a manipulated piece of work using a variety of photos that I took. After doing the composites unit, I became heavily interested in creating my own using the tools I had around me. Unfortunately, I was unable to find the artists I found for inspiration that ignited the start of this project. Although, I really enjoyed the concept of composites and how abstract/free you could take it. I thought about doing something that would be open for interpretation, and didn’t have one exact meaning, almost something that felt surreal. This may be a good option for my next project. I really want to incorporate my own life into the pieces I develop, and a major part of my life is the dogs that I have. They are always there for you when you least expect it, and I gave one of my favorite dogs a trait/characteristic of a powerful animal, much like a tiger or a lion. I gained a better understanding of how to make composite photos out of ordinary and simplistic subjects. I also got a better handle on different tools that photoshop has to offer and how I place my layers to get the best result for my final piece. My original intention was to create a more abstract work, instead of something clearly visible and easy to understand. I think for my next project I will focus more heavily on the abstract elements rather than something so tangible. I felt like I was able to use all of the photoshop skills I gained this year to make my piece feel like it flowed and look real. If I were to do this project again, I may have taken more abstract photos to incorporate within my final piece to make it look even more surreal to the viewer's eye. With most of my projects, I try to add a sense of imagination to allow others to derive different meanings or qualities that the photo has for them, inspiring a different set of perspectives and interpretations.
