The Chesapeake Bay Wine Classic Foundation’s Grand Tasting added a new component this year – an Iron Chef-style Chef Smackdown pitting six local chefs against the clock and against each other in a race to complete the perfect cocktail, appetizer, entrée and dessert to please a panel of five judges – all while incorporating a secreat ingredient in each of the offerings.
Kevin Brauch of Food Network’s Iron Chef America emceed the event, which took place 11 April 2010 at the Virginai Beach Convention Center.
The chefs paired up into three teams as the start of the competition, which included a shopping trip with $200 in hand at an area Farm Fresh grocery store. While at the supermarket the secret ingredient, Old Bay seasoning, was revealed.
The teams were:

Chef Bobby Huber of Steinhilbers in Virginia Beach
Team Carrot Bunny –
Chef Jerry Weihbrecht of Zoes in Virginia Beach and
Chef Richard Boone of Sonoma Wine Bar & Bistro in Virginia Beach
Team Chocolate Duo –
Chef Meredith Adams of Eurasia Café in Virginia Beach and
Chef Alvin Williams of Cobalt Grill in Virginia Beach
Judges were:

Chef Todd Jurich of Todd Jurich’s Bistro in Norfolk, and
Myself, Patrick Evans-Hylton, senior editor for food and wine at Hampton Roads Magazine, executive editor for Virginia Wine Lover magazine, resident foodie at WHRO public broadcasting in Hampton Roads, blogger and cookbook author.

The allied Field Training Exercise (FTX) ‘Noble Justification-14’ will take place on military training areas in Poland and Lithuania during September this year. It is a certification for NATO Special Operations Component (SOC) before taking over combat readiness duties within the NATO Response Forces in 2015 (NRF 2015). Altogether, about 1700 soldiers from 15 countries will take part in the exercise.

In September 2017 the transformer of 92016 was found to have been cracked and the locomotive dragged away for storage. When working from the overhead wires the 25 kV AC power must be converted to 1370 volt AC so that it can be used by a class 92 locomotives traction motors. This is done by the transformer which is positioned underneath the locomotive towards the cab 2 end of the common zone but much of it is obscured by the batteries and transformer tank filled with oil used for cooling and insulation.

Enough components to build three more Bonneville's. This will put total at 9 builds. I will then build one last Bonneville Flyer to end production at 10 units. Nice pile of parts, huh?

Colonel Bill Veenhof (right), Air Component Commander of Joint Task Force Games, briefs North American Aerospace Defense Command Deputy Commander Lieutenant-General Marcel Duval (left) about air operations for the Olympics using a floor-based map at the Integrated Security Unit Headquarters in Richmond, B.C., Jan. 25, 2010. Operation PODIUM is the Canadian Forces contribution to the overall security of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in support of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). The Air Force’s contribution is two-fold: The Air Component Command of Joint Task Force Games, which provides airlift, medical evacuation and area surveillance for the RCMP, and NORAD, which will ensure airspace security. In preparation for the Games, security and public safety agencies from all levels of government are working together to ensure they are prepared to respond to any potential emergency on land, sea or in the air. The scope and scale of these Games will make it the largest domestic security operation to date in Canadian history. (Photo by Master Corporal Andrew Collins, 14 Wing Imaging)
All the other components do such a good job of holding the top onto the camera, there are only 4 small screws now holding the cap on. Remove these with a fresh crosshead screwdriver and all the required parts have been removed.
Now carefully wiggle the top cap off the main camera body. Only work a small amount up at a time. Be aware that any excessive force will deform the top cap, or damage the many circuit boards and connecting wires that go between the top cap and the camera body.

Cellular Responses to Metallic Scaffolds In Vitro
My research expertise is in chemical reactions and biological interactions – proteins, DNA, and cells – with materials containing nanoscale or microscale dimensions. As a Research Associate in the Life Science Division of the Engineering Department at the University of Cambridge, my experiments focus on the interactions of human osteoblasts and monocytes with ferromagnetic metallic scaffolds. These scaffolds are intended for applications in magneto-mechanical stimulation of bone tissue.
Cellular Responses of Human Osteoblasts to Ferromagnetic Stainless Steel
Our research aims to shorten the time needed for the formation of new bone tissue at implant sites and to extend the lifetime of new implants by stimulating bone growth into implant surfaces. To achieve these aims, we are exploring the use of magnetic forces that act directly on the implant material in order to apply therapeutic levels of strain to growing bone tissue. Theoretically, our implant materials should be able to deliver similar levels of strain as achieved in physiotherapic excercise. This award-winning image shows human osteoblast cells attached to the surface of our magnetic implant material.
Studies in our lab showed that human osteoblast cells were able to attach, grow, and proliferate on these materials. Our current work is exploring how human osteoblasts and monocytes respond to three-dimensional fibre networks of ferromagnetic stainless steel. Further work will study the effects of mechanically and magneto-mechanically induced strain on the networks and cells.
