These components are just for show. Except for the lightbulb, they don't actually connect to the circuits of the radio and are glued in place.

Two functional components in this assembly have been removed. They are the steel rods that make the circuit to connect the radio in the base to the speaker in the top.

Shutter power module.

The external VS14s shutter need an 65V @4 ms pulse to close into 3.5ms. This powermodule make the 65V from the 7.2V battery. During camera focus adjusting, I need near 20V to close the shutter and 5V to hold the shutter open. This circuit has a fet to limit the 65V to 20V in adjust mode.

A lot of security functions are need, to drive the DC/DC convertor an AVR controller ATtiny26 is used.

World Migratory Bird Day is celebrating in Uzbekistan from 2011 by staff and members of the leading Republican conservation NGO - Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds (UzSPB). Mission of our NGO is: conservation birds as indicators of environment, their habitats and other components of biodiversity of Uzbekistan by means of nature-conservative initiatives collaborating with state organizations, NGOs and local communities as well as increasing potential of ornithologists and training new specialists for nature conservation. We join more than 180 members in 3 regional branches and 5 student bird watching clubs.

In 2012 educational activities and birdwatching events to mark WMBD took place in Tashkent, Samarkand regions of Uzbekistan and in Karakalpakstan. Totally more than 100 people participated in these days in WMBD events in Uzbekistan. Most of them are students. Thanks to the event they knew for the first time about cultural, social, historic, economic and spiritual connections we have with birds.

Celebration of WMBD campaign in Uzbekistan started from educational activities on one of Important Bird Areas - Dalverzin hunting management area in Tashkent region. 22 persons participated in the event. They are hunters and managers of the territory, students and lecturers of Faculty of Biological Sciences of the National University of Uzbekistan, members and staff of Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds. Participants of the meeting learnt that celebration of ecological dates is a serious instrument of environmental education in a whole world. Information about bird migrations aroused interest of representatives of administration of the hunting management area. Second part of the meeting was held in a format of discussion. Staff and managers of the territory told about habits of settled and migratory bird species dwelling on the territory.

After this all participants of the event in Dalverzin took place in game . Thanks to this small staging participants became aware of many difficulties which face birds on the way of migration. Students and grown-ups divided into two teams: migratory birds and threatening factors. Such threatened factors as lines of power supply, fires, poachers and predators were identified. Part of road was designated as a way of migration with place of breeding marked on start and place of wintering marked on finish. Team of students portraying migratory birds lined up on start. Between start and finish hunters and managers of the territory portraying threatening factors located. When birds started migration they faced many barriers on their way. Not many players form team finished. After the game UzSPB presented manual for carrying out of ecological dates in Uzbekistan to managers and staff of the territory.

Celebration of WMBD continued in Tashkent. On 12 May members of student birdwatching club organized informal lecture for 20 student of the first and second year of Faculty of Biological Sciences of the National University of Uzbekistan. Organizers shared interesting facts about birds' migration with students, provided information about species of migratory birds of Uzbekistan. After this they played a game for identifying birds by their songs and pictures. Participants of the meeting also knew about White-winged Woodpecker - Bird of the Year 2012 in Uzbekistan. Competition for the best drawing or picture of the bird was announced.

On 14 May action to mark WMBD event took place on the Faculty of Philological Sciences of Samarkand State University. More than 40 students of the first year participated in the event. All of them prepared information about migratory bird species beforehand and made a speech on the meeting. Student knew that migratory birds flying over different countries face significant difficulties. To decrease this risk and combine efforts for their protection on flyways, during feeding, wintering and breeding joint efforts on regional and international levels are necessary. , - told organizer of the event Dr. Leylya Belyalova, teacher of chair of ecology of Samarkand State University.

Members of student birdwatching club at Karakalpak State University also joined WMBD. On 12-14 May members of the club together with Chairman of UzSPB Branch in Karakalpakstan participated in expedition in the framework of student ornithological project. Thanks to the expedition students celebrated the event on three natural territories: in Nurantubek riparian forest, on the lakes Ashikul and Akshoki. Students had an opportunity to watch process of migration in nature. We hope that by joint efforts of UzSPB members we could continue and widen celebration of World Migratory Bird Day in Uzbekistan in next years.

They buzz around, we fear their sting, but they work almost nonstop and their pollination efforts are a critical component to our food system. Honeybees or "Apis mellifera" are faced with health challenges that cause colony collapse and other issues that threaten their ability to pollinate, which in turn threatens our food supply. Will this trend continue, or are the efforts of the public and private sectors addressing this threat? What are those efforts and how are they working? One takes for granted just how much of the food on a plate is because of honeybees.

Students from the Elizabeth Public School in grades 8-12 recently completed a beautification project on Elizabeth Avenue, painting decorative murals on Traffic Utility Boxes at seven locations throughout the district.

The project was spearheaded by the Elizabeth Avenue Partnership (EAP) the Downtown Management Corporation for the Elizabeth Special Improvement District and funded in part from an Investors Foundation Grant.

On Monday, April 30th, students painted 20 renderings onto the formerly gray and drab traffic boxes depicting the culture, history and beauty of the City of Elizabeth. As part of the project, students submitted artwork over a two-year span, which were chosen by a committee from the EAP. All in all, 11 schools were represented with about 25 students participating in the project and overseen by their art teachers. The Singer Sewing Machine Factory, Goethals Bridge, Cultural Flags, Latin Instruments, The new River Walk, the new Elizabeth River Trail, the Waterfront, Cityscape Downtowns, a Colorful Dove, Cherry Blossoms, Glass Mosaic and the Minuteman Statue were represented. Logos from the respective schools were painted on the sides of each box. A group even painted a Georgia O’Keefe inspired mural entitled, “Plug Into Spring” where the roots of a tree doubled as an extension cord being plugged into an outlet.

“Despite some rain and cold conditions the students and teachers braved the weather and really made the boxes come to life,” said David Strochak, EAP Executive Director. The talent exhibited during this project was mind blowing.”

EAP officials say this effort is a way to brighten up the community.

“I was driving around in other towns, and I noticed these signal boxes that were decorated nicely,” says EAP Vice Chairman, Emerson Amador. “I said, you know what, we need to put a plan in action to make ours prettier.”

“On behalf of Elizabeth Public Schools, I would like to thank Elizabeth Avenue Partnership and the City of Elizabeth for providing our students the opportunity to share their creativity and imagination with the community,” said Superintendent Olga Hugelmeyer. “Arts education is an important component of the instruction we provide at our schools. I am excited that our students’ artwork will be displayed at various locations, revealing not only their exceptional artistic talents, but also their pride in being an Elizabethan through their unique perspective of Elizabeth culture.”

During the kickoff ceremony at Union Square Plaza, Mayor Bollwage joined representatives from the EPS and EAP to kick off this first annual Mural Project where nearly 100 entries were received over the last two years from students who were asked to depict the culture, history and beauty of the City of Elizabeth. The project was the brainchild of the EAP under then chairman Emerson Amador who wanted to bring a sense of beauty and community pride to the district through student art. Funds for the project were generated from an Investors Foundation Grant, written by EAP Executive Director Dave Strochak.

“Our City has a wonderful arts community and there are so many underutilized spaces that could serve as canvasses for artists to share their talent,” said Mayor J. Christian Bollwage. “I am happy to kick off this project, as it not only showcases the history and culture of Elizabeth, but it gets our youth involved while adding a creative element to the Avenue. Congratulations to the students chosen to share their artwork.”

“This has been in the planning stages on Elizabeth Avenue for quite some time and we are so pleased to be working with the wonderful art departments at the Elizabeth Public Schools again to decorate and beautify our district,” Strochak said. We thank all of our partners and of course the Investors Foundation for this opportunity.”

The Investors Foundation, who had Vice President, Razie Dauti and Branch Manager David Miguens on hand, is dedicated to supporting creative initiatives to diverse community organizations that support Arts and Education, Health and Human Services, Youth and Affordable Housing in the communities Investors Bank serves.

“Our focus at Investors Bank is to build strong business partnerships with each community we service,” said David Miguens, Elizabeth Branch Manager. “It is not only a pleasure to help support the EAP but a necessity to be fully involved in such organizations to ensure that our towns are safe and clean and we can help educate the people who live and work in Elizabeth.”

The EAP has been operating since 1999 and is responsible for all aspects of managing the Elizabeth Avenue shopping district including, safety, security, street cleaning, parking, beautification, promotions and events.

“The Elizabeth Avenue Partnership is thrilled to welcome the students of our community into our district,” said EAP Chairman Angel Rodriguez. They have an opportunity to leave a lasting impression through their art work for the residents, merchants and shoppers on Elizabeth Avenue. We are grateful that the Art Department of the Elizabeth School District is providing the students with this great opportunity to showcase their talents for everyone to see. Congratulations to the students!”

This is the second time the EAP has worked with the EPS Art Departments, the first being the widely popular Wooden Toy Soldier Exhibit which decorated Elizabeth Avenue for the holidays.

The Bush administration created the Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI) ten years ago to improve global efforts to interdict shipments of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and their dual-use components. This voluntary arrangement has primarily relied on bilateral shipboarding agreements and exercises to help improve responses to suspect shipments. Beginning with 11 "core” states, PSI now has 102 member states. Despite this, there are still gaps in the system.

Recently, the Obama administration has declared its intention to turn PSI into a “durable international effort.” Please join our distinguished panel of speakers as we discuss how PSI has developed, and how it might move forward into the future.

A look into the life of computers. Nude Machine Models.

The fortress of Terezín was constructed between the years 1780 and 1790 by the orders of the Austrian emperor Joseph II in the north-west region of Bohemia. It was designed to be a component of a projected but never fully realized fort system of the monarchy, another piece being the fort of Josefov. Terezín took its name from the mother of the emperor, Maria Theresa of Austria who reigned as empress of Austria in her own right from 1740–1780. By the end of the 18th century, the facility was obsolete as a fort; in the 19th century, the fort was used to accommodate military and political prisoners.

From 1914 till 1918 it housed one of its most famous prisoners: Gavrilo Princip. Princip assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife on June 28, 1914, which led to the outbreak of the First World War. Princip died in cell number 1 from tuberculosis on April 28, 1918.

On June 10, 1940, the Gestapo took control of Terezín and set up the prison in the Small Fortress (kleine Festung), see below. By November 24, 1941, the Main Fortress (große Festung, i.e. the walled town of Theresienstadt) was turned into a ghetto. To outsiders, it was presented by the Nazis as a model Jewish settlement, but in reality it was a concentration camp 'where over 33 000 inmates died as a result of hunger, sickness, or the sadistic treatment meted out by their captors'. Theresienstadt was also used as a transit camp for European Jews en route to Auschwitz. 'Although some survivors claim the population reached 75,000, official records place the highest figure on September 18, 1942, at 58,491 in Kasernes (barracks) designed to accommodate 7000 combat troups.

ARRCADE NELSON LOOKS AT HQ ARRC’S CORPS PRESENT, FUTURE

IMJIN BARRACKS, UK – As they approach the year’s end, the servicemen and women of Headquarters Allied Rapid Reaction Corps have been certified for their role in the NATO Response Force and are looking to take their place as the Land Component Command in 2017. While HQ ARRC, which represents 21 NATO nations, is preparing for the new year, they are also looking to what could possibly lie ahead in 2017 and beyond.

In order to do so, HQ ARRC held Exercise ARRCADE NELSON here, an exercise designed to focus leaders on their role today, tomorrow and beyond. In order to get a full-spectrum view, speakers from the US and UK militaries, academics and the UK Army Chief of the General Staff General Sir Nicholas Carter, about where we are now, and where to go from here.

“The battlefield now is increasingly decentralized,” said Carter. “Our training definitely needs to prepare people to be able to fight war rather than ‘a war’ and I think we need to think hard, given the nature of the modern environment how we genuinely develop the leaders at the levels below who are going to have to innovate in tactical terms in what is a much more complex environment than I grew up in.”

Taking the need to be forward-thinking and innovative seriously, HQ ARRC invited August Cole, non-resident senior fellow, Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security at the Atlantic Council and co-author of the novel Ghost Fleet to speak during the exercise. The novel, which looks at the future of warfare and how future wars might be fought, and gives Cole a unique perspective that he shared with the attendees.

He walked the audience through a possible future scenario to think through what a future war might look like for HQ ARRC and NATO, encouraged them to think and plan further out than is comfortable, and to make sure some thought is given to unthinkable scenarios in the future.

Just as the cooperation between nations is important today, it will remain so in the future as and HQ ARRC will continue to develop the interoperability between their 21 nations as they serve in the NRF.

“As NATO, our centre of gravity is alliance cohesion and through interoperability we demonstrate the practical output of that cohesion,” said Clark. This headquarters, HQ ARRC, is absolutely vital in this sense.”

“Ultimately the most important part of interoperability is about human relationships that’s why events like this are so important,” he continued. It’s why developing that mutual understanding between nations and partners is absolutely fundamental.”

As one on NATO’s nine High Readiness Forces Land, HQ ARRC is designed to serve several different purposes when needed. While their role next year is as the Land Component Command for the NATO Response Force, they also have to remain prepared to operate as a corps headquarters and combined joint headquarters, a point that was reiterated by Carter.

“I think the corps level of command is increasingly becoming more relevant I suspect this headquarters is optimizing itself at corps-level operations but being able to adjust from that to a land component headquarters if necessary,” said Carter.

While HQ ARRC remains ready for the NRF mission next year, exercises like NELSON ensure that they continue to innovate and increase their ability to adapt to any role, or any mission given to them by NATO.

“As the nature of warfare shifts over time, so must we,” said Lieutenant General Tim Radford, commander of HQ ARRC. “This study day seeks to bring the latest issues and thinking together and set the stage for our training year in 2017 as we look to ‘recalibrate’ to focusing on corps-level operations.”

“Much can be taken from history but in order to succeed and to stay ahead, we need to look hard at what the future might bring and what we might do,” he continued. “Today has done exactly that and we have benefitted enormously from the distinguished speakers who have brought their expertise, thoughts and candour to the day.“
