I had so many compliments about my photo of a juvenile Cuckoo about to be fed that I thought I would post what happened next. One would think that the Pipit foster parent would pass across the morsel beak to beak, but instead the Pipit repeatedly put its head deep inside the young Cuckoo's gaping beak. It reminded me of a circus lion tamer placing his head inside the lion's mouth. If you are looking at this photo in isolation here's the photo I posted yesterday which shows an earlier photo in this sequence, and the write-up explains more about the breeding biology of Cuckoos: www.flickr.com/photos/timmelling/51368867311/in/dateposted/ And incidentally, each time the Pipit had delivered food, the Cuckoo would deliver an ungrateful peck in return, as if to chivvy it along to fetch more food. This was on the Peak District Moors in South Yorkshire.
The flower symbolism associated with the iris is faith, wisdom, cherished friendship, hope, valor, my compliments, promise in love, wisdom.
In the Victorian language of flowers, the iris signifies a "message."
The Iris symbolize intelligence, competence, and independence.
Giving someone an iris says "Your friendship means a lot to me."
Iris, Blue: Faith, hope
Iris, Purple: Wisdom, compliments
Iris, Yellow: Passion
Iris, White: Purity

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. Flattered at being my chosen subject for a candid shot and just about to break into a warm smile. Enjoy your weekend everyone!
…Please fave my photo, pretty please, ok I know that’s a terrible ‘line’ 😂
Took this one quite a while back, and thought it was about time I posted it. This is one that Danny loved, so I’m posting it for him.
Also it’s a raw file, like sushi but without the fish. Groan. I’ll shut up now.
Have a great evening all, thank ‘cod’ it’s almost the weekend. 😂😂
An earlier shot of a Purple Iris.In the language of flowers the top three petals on a an Iris symbolizes faith, valor and wisdom. So now you know how you should present them to somebody.

... a compliment is not endless,
it is not a promise,
but you can always renew it...

Happy Greta's Tuesday, all!
This is compliments of Mother Nature and last Saturdays storm. It wasn't very nice if you had to be out in it. We had to travel an hour out of town to attend a funeral. It was snowing when we left, then turned to rain while we were there and then freezing rain for our drive home. I credit a good set of snow tires to get us home safely...oh, and my impeccable driving skills ;P Once I was home I got out my camera a took a couple of shots around my yard. It was blustery so it was difficult to get some steady shots. I had to hold the branch still with my left hand to get this one. :) Happy Bokeh Wednesday!

I don't often get compliments from my kids about my photos (or about much else either) but while I was at LSP on Sunday night, I sent Dayna texts of pictures. My phone takes horrible pictures (or I take horrible pictures with my phone...whatever!) She asked that I send her the photos from my camera. Yesterday morning at work, she texted me and said that the photos were amazing. (WOW!!) : ) That compliment made my day. I asked which one was her favorite... and it was this one. So, I am putting it here on Flickr for safe keeping... so I will always be able to find it.
She also sent me a text last night... a copy of a Facebook message that she got from an old online friend of mine that I lost touch with. She told Dayna she was looking for me and asked if I was her mom. I had been thinking about her, because she lived in the state of Washington and she called me the morning of 9/11 to ask if everything was OK here because she didn't know how far I was from NYC. I think of her every 9/11 when I think about the events of that day. I love it when someone you are thinking about is thinking about you too. I'll reconnect with her later on today. ♥

19/09/2019; My compliments to the people that managed to buy their houses here, which as far as I can recall haven't been built too long ago. Last year, or the year before?
By the way, I was pleasantly surprised with the reflection in the Spaarne river I was being treated to. Not too far to the left outside of this frame, a ship was just sailing away, but somehow it didn't affect the reflection in the river too much. I'm not complaining. :)
