This picture shows the ceiling inside the Tuman Oko complex in Shah-i-Zinda in Samarkand. It was built by Amir Temur's wife in the 15th century.

the Torre dell'Arenella, part of the complex of the Tonnara, Quattro Pizzi etc ... was built in 1852 by Don Vincenzo Florio Sr. (1799-1868), who had called a Dutchman to draw up the project. It served as a windmill or mechanical mill to grind sumac, a grass which, reduced to powder, was indispensable for the tanning of hides.
It worked for a few years, the exports were booming, then the workers began to get smart, mixing fake herb powder with that of the precious sumac, the result: the mill closed and business in smoke.
The tower also served as a lighthouse, as reported by an old nautical map of the port.
Arenella perhaps owes its name to the fine sand that once covered its coast.

la Torre dell'Arenella, facente parte del complesso della Tonnara, Quattro Pizzi etc...fu fatta costruire nel 1852 da Don Vincenzo Florio Sr. (1799-1868), che aveva chiamato un olandese per redigerne il progetto. Ebbe funzione di mulino a vento o meccanico per macinare il sommacco, un'erba, che, ridotta in polvere, era indispensabile per la concia delle pelli.
Funzionò per qualche anno, le esportazioni a gonfie vele, poi le maestranze cominciarono a fare i furbi, mescolando polvere di erbe fasulle a quella del prezioso sommacco, risultato: mulino chiuso e affari in fumo.
La torre ebbe anche funzione di Faro, come riportato da una vecchia carta nautica del Porto .
L'Arenella forse deve il suo nome alla fina sabbia che una volta ricopriva il suo litorale .

Le Harpa est situé au Austurbakki 2, près de l'intersection des rues Lækjargata et Kalkofnsvegur, à Reykjavik, capitale d'Islande. Une vue à partir de la Sculpture & Shore Walk qui longe la route 41 le long du rivage de la baie Faxaflói.
Cet immense complexe est d'abord salle de concerts et centre de congrès, hébergeant aussi restaurants, bars et disquaire, est le fleuron de la geste architecturale islandaise et le symbole de la revitalisation du front de mer de la ville. Inauguré en mai 2011, l'Harpa a été conçu par la firme danoise Henning Larsen Architects et somptueusement habillé par le designer islandais Ólafur Elíasson. Etonnant, selon le jour, l'heure et l'état du ciel, sa carapace aux multiples écailles se métamorphose. À l'intérieur, le regard glisse sur les murs lisses et noirs comme de la lave, puis s'arrête sur le plafond couvert de miroirs en 3D.

Krzyżtopór is a castle located in the village of Ujazd, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It was originally built by a Polish nobleman and Voivode of Sandomierz, Krzysztof Ossoliński (1587–1645). The castle was partially destroyed during the Swedish invasion known as The Deluge in 1655, and then reduced to ruins during the war of the Bar Confederation by the Russians in 1770.
Even though extensive research has been carried out through the years, historians have been unable to fully explain all aspects of the complex. No documents have been preserved that have enabled the determination of either the date of commencement of the castle's construction or the date of its completion. The name of the architect is also unknown. Krzysztof Ossoliński was enamoured with magic. while the unique symmetry of the castle is evident even in its ruined state, the hidden meanings that may have been incorporated into virtually every part of the castle are not obvious.
The very name of the complex is a mysterious one. Krzysztof Ossoliński officially named it Krzysztofory, which is derived from Latin word Christophoros. Later, the name changed to Krzyżtopór, which is a compounding of two Polish words – krzyż ("cross", a symbol of the Catholic faith and Ossoliński's policies) and topór ("axe", the charge from the family's coat of arms). Both symbols can be seen on the gate of the castle. Also, above the gate there is the date 1631, but to what this date refers has not been firmly established.
The castle, built by Swiss engineer Wawrzyniec (Lawrence) Senes (probably born in Sent, Switzerland), is a typical example of the so-called palazzo in fortezza – an intermingling of both palace and fortress. The total size of the complex is 1.3 hectares; the length of the perimeter walls is 700 meters; the total area of all interior rooms is around 70 000 square meters. The basic design was based on the palace of Cardinal Alexander Farnese, located in the Italian village of Caprarola. Reportedly, the castle once had 365 windows (as many as days of the year), 52 rooms (as many as weeks of the year), 12 ballrooms (as many as months of the year) and also 4 towers (as many as 4 seasons of the year). For defensive purposes, the castle was erected upon a rocky hill, making it impossible for an enemy to organize an underground attack.
Krzyżtopór was furnished with amenities that were rarely seen in the 17th century, such as ventilation and heating system, and unique waterworks that provided all rooms with fresh water. Allegedly, the ceiling in one of dining rooms was made up of an aquarium containing exotic fish. Additionally, a system of dumbwaiters carried food from pantries to the upper floors.
The castle, without convenient proximity to main roads and rail connections, is visited by relatively few tourists. However, as walls, bastions and moat are relatively well-preserved, its magnitude is still very impressive. Though it is regarded as a permanent ruin, since around 90 percent of the walls have been preserved, reconstruction has been planned several times. Currently, efforts have been underway to roof the entire complex; however, this ambitious project lacks sufficient funding.
The fortified complex was built in different eras. The Torrione overlooked the ancient Porta a Terra of the city, was built in 1212 in the period of maximum splendor of the Piombinese communal age, the only surviving testimony of that era. The tower, also known as Sant'Antonio or Porta Inferi, was probably equipped with one or more bells, used in case of anniversaries or dangers

Dick Brothers Brewery was founded in 1857, and was one of the largest beer brands in the early 20th century rivaling Anheuser-Busch at one time. Dick Brothers closed in 1951. Today the complex of buildings is being redeveloped for commercial and entertainment use. It now is the centerpiece of the South Side German Historic District, listed in 1992 on the National Register of Historic Places.
"Cascade Complex" in Yerevan is an architectural complex on the hillside, located north of city center.
Externally, they look as great stairs, decorated with flowerbeds, fountains, sculptures and contemporary chaczkarami (plates with a carved Armenian cross). The name comes from fountains that flow down of cascade.
The first caskades project at the beginning of 20th century was developed by architect Alexander Tamanian. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of joining Armenia to the USSR, in 1970 this great construction project was returned. Work began only in 1980, but after the earthquake in 1988 and the breakup of the Soviet Union, the work was stopped.
In 2001, the building was taken over by Armenian millionaire, philanthropist and collector Gerard Cafesjian who lived in the United States. He decided to transform the whole into a museum with an exhibition of modern art.

Zewnętrznie prezentują się jako wielkie schody, ozdobione kwietnikami, fontannami, rzeźbami oraz współczesnymi chaczkarami (płytami z rzeźbionym krzyżem ormiańskim). Nazwa wywodzi się od fontann, które spływają po progach na kształt kaskady.
Pierwszy projekt Kaskad na początku XX wieku opracował architekt Aleksander Tamanian. Dla uczczenia 50-lecia przyłączenia Armenii do ZSRR, w latach 70 tych XX wieku powrócono do tego wielkiego projektu budowlanego. Prace rozpoczęto dopiero w 1980, ale po trzęsieniu ziemi w 1988 i rozpadzie Związku Radzieckiego, prace przerwano.
W 2001 roku budowę przejął żyjący w Stanach Zjednoczonych ormiański milioner, filantrop i kolekcjoner Gerard Cafesjian. Zdecydował się przekształcić całość w muzeum z ekspozycją sztuki nowoczesnej.

Der Düsseldorfer Kö-Bogen als Schwarzweiss-Interpretation. Der Kö-Bogen ist ein Gebäudekomplex und Freiraumgefüge zur Stadterneuerung in der nordrhein-westfälischen Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf. Benannt wurde das städtebauliche Projekt nach dem Viertelkreis-Bogen, den die dort am Rande des Hofgartens und des Teichs an der Landskrone einst verlaufende Hofgartenstraße in Richtung der Königsallee, der Kö, beschrieb.

The journey into homelessness is rarely a singular event, but rather a complex accumulation of personal and systemic fractures. The path likely began with the quiet erosion of stability—perhaps the loss of a long-held career followed by the gradual disintegration of social support. As the fabric of his everyday life unravelled, economic pressures and perhaps health struggles may have removed a safety net to cushion the descent. A story of resilience in the face of immense adversity, illustrating how a person can become unmoored from society's structures, forced to navigate a stark, solitary existence while remaining an often invisible observer of the world.

The Lake Placid Club built the first ski jump on this site in 1920, using the hillside itself as the jump surface. The jump was referred to as the Intervales 35-meter jump. On February 21. 1921, the first competition was held at this site, drawing 3,000 spectators. The record jump for the day was 124 feet, set by Antony Maurer. In 1923, the jump was enlarged to fifty meters, and in 1927, a new steel tower was built, raising the jump to 60 meters. In 1928, the tower was raised to 75 meters; this was the tower used for the 1932 Winter Olympic Games. In 1977, the old tower was demolished to make way for new 70 and 90-meter jumps, used for the 1980 Winter Olympic Games. In 1994, the landing hills were re-graded to bring the jumps into compliance with current rules, and increasing their height to 90 and 120 meters 170
