The Heartland Familiarisation Tour introduces new residents to the town's key facilities and amenities as a means of helping them to settle into their new neighbourhood.

Picture of the framed degree. Name all smudged out for privacy, but I assure you it's there. :)

We used construction adhesive to affix the bottom third of each sheet to the block wall, and nails to attach the upper portion to the studs in the framing. The leaning blocks and rocks were intended to "clamp" the sheathing until the adhesive dried. I plan to follow up with Tapcon-like screws at the bottom of each sheet, to make it less likely that the sheets will curl up and away from the block, and thereby provide an access route to small rodents and other undesirable residents.

yep! its completed! ^-^ and it started raining! of course! grrr >.> DAMN YOU OREGON SUNSHINE! lolz xD if ur not from oregon, ur not gonna get it xD

The 7th National Conference of AISA was successfully completed in Jadavpur University, Kolkata on 10th February. The.

3-day conference began on 8th February with an open session in Kolkata's College Street, which was addressed by poet and activist.

Nabarun Bhattacharya, as well as educationist Anil Sadgopal. The closed session for AISA delegates was inaugurated the next day.

by CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya. The conference was attended by 350 delegates from 18 states across.

the country. The 7th National Conference of AISA elected Sandeep Singh as AISA's National President, and Ravi Rai as National.

General Secretary. Several JNU students were supposed to participate in the conference as delegates and observers, but could not.

go because of the ongoing crisis in JNU, keeping in mind our important struggle against the Lyngdoh committee recommendations.

and the UGBMs held in this regard..

.

AISA's 7th National Conference was held in the backdrop of a resurgent neo-liberal offensive and a concerted attack.

by the UPA government on peoples' rights and students' rights. There are several pressing issues in front of the student and the.

youth of the country: privatization of education under the garb of `educational reforms'; communal stereotyping of minority youth;.

regional chauvinism of the MNS-Shiv Sena variety; communal violence; attacks on freedom of women by fascist diktats of the Sangh.

Parivar or caste `panchayats'; state repression and `Operation Green hunt' as well as displacement and state-sponsored corporate.

land grab. The conference debated and documented the experiences of various campuses across the country of how commercialisa-.

tion drives are afoot in various educational sectors. In several central universities and important state universities, when the student.

movement opposed these moves, state agencies and the entire administrative apparatus has unleashed their machinery to restrict and.

restrain student activism creating a situation of undeclared emergency. The fact that student union elections are not being held in.

most universities is an indicator of this ploy..

.

AISA, since its inception, had declared that the student community in our country must shoulder the twin responsibility.

of fighting for the basic right to education, employment and campus democracy on one hand, and actively linking the student.

community with the burning social questions of the times to democratise the society too. The present conjuncture which is.

witnessing the assaults on both students' rights as well as peoples' rights, has once again underscored the renewed importance of this.

perspective. Various right-wing student organisations are increasingly finding themselves at odds with the sentiments of the.

larger student community. The real divisive and communal face of ABVP's false rhetoric of `nationalism' and `patriotism' which.

gathered some support during the decade of the 1990s, has now been exposed. With the Congress hell-bent on destroying whatever.

little educational and employment opportunities were available for the poor and socially deprived sections in higher education, all.

that the pliant NSUI can do is to `rejuvenate' itself by selling the brand of its `youth icon' Rahul Gandhi. Also, various arm-chair.

intellectuals and the corporate mass media like to present an image of a `careerist' and `consumerist' youth who has no interest left.

for idealism and social change..

.

At the conference, AISA rededicated itself to rise up to the occasion - to defy the forces of status-quo and cynicism, expose and.

fight the agents of commercialisation and communalism within campuses and reinvigorate the student community with a passion-.

ate desire to challenge the entire web of neo-liberalism and defend students' and peoples' rights in the country. Last year has seen.

AISA actively intervening and leading the student movement against capitation fees in Chennai, spearheading a massive state-wide.

movement against school fee hikes in UP, facing state repression and prolonged imprisonment in Ara (Bihar) for demanding rightful.

facilities and infrastructure for dalit students, calling a state-wide bandh and a militant movement against Shiv Sena-MNS's regional.

chauvinism in Bihar, suffering months of imprisonment in Punjab for joining the mass movement of the dalits for land and dignity,.

fighting for people's rights in Orissa, Assam and Bengal against displacement and state terror, and launching a nation-wide Chhatra.

Adhikar Abhiyan to defend campus democracy against the Lyngdoh recommendations..

.

In our own campus too, AISA has decisively changed many set paradigms and expanded the horizon of student politics. Even.

while fighting against commercialisation and making the campus more socially inclusive through deprivation points, OBC reservations.

and recognition of Madarsa certificates, and against Lyngdoh recommendations, JNU students took an active role in the peoples'.

struggles against displacement, SEZs, communal genocides, communal witch-hunting from Batla House to Azamgarh, draconian.

laws like AFSPA and MCOCA, or the military offensive in the name of `Operation Green Hunt'. The recent UGBM mandate was.

a firm reiteration in favour of such a model of JNU student politics and JNUSU..

.

AISA appeals to the student community to uphold this perspective of student struggle to confront the challenges ahead. Tonight.

.

Upon completion of a 10 week Certificate II leadership and personal development course through Aboriginal Indigenous Leadership Centre (AILC) 12 local indigenous youth travelled to Central Australia in June / July 2016.

The trip was undertaken to assist them to learn about the value and role of traditional culture and value and to reconnect with identity, culture and spiritual practices.

On their return the leadership group will use their new skills and understanding to influence and teach their peers through peer development, Youth Week and Reconciliation Week activities. They will also develop a short DVDE of their personal journey which will be used by schools and youth centres as a resource for other young people.

The leadership team will work with Queanbeyan-Palerang Regaional Council's Aboriginal Community Liaison and Projects Officer to create an innovative new Reconciliation Week program, with activities tailored for all school ages.
