YX67URP was a Volvo B8R / Plaxton Leopard purchased new by Borders Buses as their number 11729 in November 2017. There is speculation that it may not remain in the area however as it is not really suitable for service work, and was possibly bought after Irizar failed to offer a competitive price on new stock.
Morrinsville... A small dairy farming town about 30 miles east of Hamilton. The Motel was very spacious, very comfortable and very competitively priced, but after a 7 hour Road Trip, I needed to go for a walk...
However, I'd only walked about 100 metres when I realised that I'd just walked past a cow! Not your ordinary Fresian or Jersey cow mind you, but a life-sized fiberglass model which was standing on a street corner...
And what's more, there was another one just across the road - and another one a bit further down and... Well, you get the picture...! They were everywhere...!
All in all, I photographed 23 of Morrinsville's Cows and all were extremely colourful-looking beasts!
After a very enjoyable meal in one of the older local pubs, we 'toured' the Used Car lots (Well, there wasn't much else to do in town that night!), so imagine our surprise when we stumbled across the monster Fresian (The main photo above) standing some 20 feet tall in the dark! (The plinth it was anchored to stood chest high on me, and I'm not short...!).
The Morrinsville Cows... A quite unique addition to a neat little country town in the middle of the rich Waikato dairy farming region... and one day, we'd like to return...!
