This rather compact castle was built on a steep rcok formation, which was inhabited by humans already in prehistoric (eneolitic) times. Racek of Schwammberg built it some time around 1350 together with the church of Maria Magdalene under the castle, which still stands and serves the believers. After Racek´s death, his sons gave the castle to Otík of Chrást, who rebelled against king Wenceslaus IV, and the royal army besieged Věžka in 1405. The garrison capitulated after six months of siege, traces of which can be found in the surroundings until today. This siege also brought up the need for a forward fortification, which was built on an opposing rock cliff. Otík got the castle back in 1410, and the lords of Chrást held it for following decades, they changed sides in the Hussite wars from catholic to rebels, but survived after them and kept their holdings. Věžka became one of many castles attacked by the Hungarians under king Matthias Corvinus invading Bohemia, being badly damaged in 1478 and abandoned, it changed into a ruin for lack of maintenance. The limited room on the rock was used to the last inch, there was a large oval tower partially carved into the ground rock, a palace, two gates, remains of stables, a kitchen and other buldings have been identified. The ruin is a popular tourist spot with beautiful lookout above the river Berounka.
The University of La Verne hosted the National Campus Compact conference on July 13-15, 2014. Bringing together 70 university presidents and state directors to focus on higher education and civic engagement.

Another awsome Sport Compact event at WSID.Loads of cars made the trek from all over Aus to compete.Almost capacity entries on the track & a great selection of hot cars on show.
The presentation standard of Sport Compact drag cars has really amazed me so far this year, with a lot of the top runner track cars looking like prestine show cars with candy pearl paint jobs, tastefull air brushing and graffix and tuff drag spec rims all round. these guys have definatly stepped it up a notch!
Took a whole lot of photo's throughout the day, but unfortunatly forgot my memory backup so was limited to 4G worth of space...Ahhhrr.
Anyway, enjoy and please let me know what you think.

Compactor room on ground level. Through ceiling, there are two chutes leading to the compactor room: one for recycling and one for trash. (Compactors had not been installed yet)
