The lure of compact fluorescent bulbs was that they lasted much longer and used less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs.
So many have disappointed me that I started noting the date on which I installed a given bulb (7/2/07 in this case). Even if it burned out yesterday (it actually did many months ago, I finally got around to taking this photo) this bulb burned out way before the 5 year marketing promise.
Now I have another mercury-containing device that I must dispose of properly.
I mostly got these adorable pull-apart erasers for the Count Fabulous. I got them at Target. The bedazzlin' compact is from Claire's.

To get optimal compaction of the fill material, we wet it down with plenty of water, and let the water soak into the sand. Then, we ran the plate compactor over it to achieve the level of compaction we wanted.

EBMUD technician is taking readings from a machine that uses something akin to x-rays to ensure that the gravel has been adequately compacted to prevent later settling.
