This Common Yellowthroat put on a show for us this morning near Freeport, TX. Even with wind and the threat of rain these guys were singing almost everywhere we went this morning.

Probably the same bird as yesterday's photo, but taken on a different day in a different tree!
This Buzzard is eating a frog, the bird has been turning up around this time for a good number of years to catch frogs that are gathering to spawn.

A roosting pauraque that I believe is on an egg. Appeared to be turning one at least. A nightjar common in South and Central America and Mexico. Reaches the U.S. only in southernmost Texas.

Series of five including video. A very grey drab day today so headed for Sovereign Harbour. Low tide and on the rise. The Common Seals had been high and dry on the mud but were gradually getting to the point of lift off. They obviously don't like getting their feet wet!
This is a bird I have seen one other time and they do not like to be photographed.

Being utterly scandalized by our audacity to come even anywhere near its nesting grounds (which were right next to the road it seemed). We didn't stay for too long after facing such inhospitability.

Common Blue females are often plain brown with only slight blue streaking, close to the body. This one is exceptionally blue

Common Snipe / gallinago gallinago. 21/08/19.
One of c9 Common Snipe that eventually flew in for a prolonged feeding fest mid-afternoon. Once they got going their feeding was frenetic, beaks working like sewing machine needles.
This bird was captured taking a brief rest to check the surrounding area. The position of it's beautifully large, dark eyes gives it excellent periphery vision.

Common Toad / bufo bufo. Straws Bridge, Derbyshire. 24/09/21.
So pleased to discover this adult toad clambering around some well rotted wood on a disused railway embankment. It had found a wonderful shaded habitat to forage in, damp and with plenty of cover. I'm sure there would have been no shortage of invertebrates for it to feed on.
