Project 3.6.5. Picture 138/365

I counted 163 Canucks Jerseys on the way home tonight. Several of them were lined up outside the Commodore Ballroom and this guy walked by and high-fived them all. I thought it was the perfect Project 3.6.5. picture.

Btw: We beat the Sharks 7-3 tonight! Go Canucks Go!!!

Holden VT Calais

Built in 1936 and designed by Henry Hohauser, it was made from inexpensive materials, featuring concrete block facades. This Art Deco creation is rich in ornamentals specific to the period: eyebrows, curved corners, and four round emblems, called “bosses” descending along the side, which provided an “odd charm” to the place, but also fodder for the anti-preservationists, who claimed that “eyesores” like this weren’t worth preserving.

A lovely nymphalid, meet the Fashion Commodore (Precis pelarga)

Spotted on a secluded hedge of Yellow Bush basking in the morning sun.

She took flight upon sudden intrusion only to return again like a typical nymphalid would do. Again, she flew away to a new location on the hedge as I reached closer. She is solitary, and probably territorial.

I always approached with caution, and then she'll take off playing hard to get.

We got acquainted eventually, but not after an intense game of hide and seek spanning almost fifteen minutes. Phewww!

Nassau registered Ferry 'Commodore Clipper' slips out of Portsmouth Harbour - 6th October 2007.

The 'telescope' effect was created by not taking off the lens hood extension from the Nikon.

I thought it added a 'nautical' touch?

That case definitely needs retrobriting! Just need to grab a tub big enough to soak it in.

Marsh Commodore, near the Blyde River Nature reserve, Mpumalanga, South Africa, February 6th, 2014

There's no denying the Matchbox Holden VF Commodore SSV got its fair share of hype when it first appeared a couple of years ago in its Police themed livery. The casting didn't look quite finished with its lack of rear tampo detailing but happily its next two recolours fixed that issue by going totally factory stock.

A thoroughly decent pocket money priced replica of this Australian performance saloon and a marque greatly missed after GM first closed down the factory and then the brand name itself.

Part of a very sizeable 2025 Case G haul found at The Entertainer.
