In the late 1980's, I began to take photographs of the Commodore Barry Bridge which connects Chester, PA to Bridgeport, NJ. Finally, I found a good location at the end of Highland Avenue in Chester to take this photo. The place is called Tidewater Terminal. And I had to climb over a fence and stand on the Delaware River beach in the very early morning and take many photos before I got the one I liked. I was using my Minolta SRT 100 35 mm, a 28 mm Rokkor lens, tripod and shutter release cable. It was a labor of love for sure. At one point I accidentally trespassed on private property and was confronted by a very angry Labrador Retriever and his owner who was sporting a pistol. After a very nervous explanation, I shook the man's hand, but refrained from patting the dog on the head.
When you stand in the parking lot you have a breathtaking view of this mine that was the first locations of mining claims, in what is known as the Creede mining district that where made by John C. Mackenzie and several of his companions. During the spring and summer of 1891 the famous Amethyst Vein was discovered. Mackenzie located and staked the "Commodore" claim.
The Amethyst Vein follows the base of the cliff to the east of the mine buildings which are located on the five different levels of the commodore. This is one of the greatest silver mines on earth, ore production spanned from 1891 to 1976. There are almost 200 miles of tunnels and underground workings lying within the mine. The Commodore is the southern most mine lying on the Amethyst Vein.
You can see the Commodore Mine on the Bachelor Tour through Willow Creek Canyon that is above the town of Creede, Colorado.

My first (and the best ever) Commodore 64 with 1541-II drive. My dad made me a custom power supply (the original one was missing) -- it was hard (and expensive) to get that one in Poland those days.
Commy had a reset button (wired by someone else before) and 2 more holes (where I stuck those lame elephant stickers, when I was 9 or 10).
