Every year, DLA and MWR join forces to recognize its military and civilian workforce for their dedication and commitment to the overall Department of Defense (DoD) mission and to those who provide us with the freedoms that we enjoy every day! DLA and MWR hosted one of the most anticipated events of the year! The 2019 SummerFest and Organization Day took place on August 14, 2019 from 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., at the Installation Fest Area (Riverview Golf Course Practice Range). This year’s event featured a special live musical performance by local singer-songwriter, Garrett Shultz! This up-and-coming artist performed various popular country, rock, & pop hits of today! Also, there was a Car & Bike Show, free swimming at the pool, vendors selling tasty food and unique merchandise, various chances to win prizes and receive free goodies, informational booths, bounce houses, a caricaturist, a clown, a mechanical bull, bocce ball, baggo, and more! MWR offered a chance to win a 65” flat screen TV to patrons who participated in the Sponsor Scavenger Hunt. So many activities all crammed into one day!

This event showcases the Urban Leagues commitment to its mission through acknowledging supporters, volunteers and corporate sponsors who have contributed to the year’s success. Stakeholders and donors in the Urban League Movement experience first hand the impact their support makes through personal testimonies of people whose lives are forever changed by their personal and financial investment in the Urban League’s program. The evening’s agenda culminates with a “State of the Urban League” address that highlights the year’s challenges, successes and future innovations.

These guys were awesome enough to let me photograph them working out for the photo theme 'Commitment' during the DC Shoot Off in Arlington, Va. We were assigned the theme, and then had 24 hours to shoot, edit and upload our images. I had a great time and learned a ton!

There is freedom in commitment.
This might seem counterintuitive, but I've found the fewer things I commit to, the more freedom I have.
I get overwhelmed when I try to do too much in too many areas.
I always recommend 80% on one main skill or project, and 20% for the rest
The healthiest thing you can do for your business is to go deep on something narrow.
Market/promote widely if you can, but don’t do it at the expense of going deep into a skill.
Get GREAT at less.
