There were a lot of gulls that surprised me.

Large heron with rusty head and streaky neck; juvenile is extensively rusty brown on upperparts. Favors fresh marshes with tall reeds and other vegetation. Often more retiring than Gray Heron and rarely seen in open situations. Only likely to be confused with larger and bulkier Gray Heron, which is paler and grayer overall, with a stouter bill. (eBird)

This was the most active Purple Heron we saw in Singapore. Striding down the hill towards to the pond, it was obviously intent on finding a snack. Most of the others that we saw were pretending to be statues.

Flickr nervt mich zunehmend. Es dauert unglaublich lange, ehe ich in der Lage bin eure schönen Bilder zu faven und/oder zu kommentieren. Ich mache jetzt mal ein paar Tage Urlaub und hoffe, dass hier bald alles wieder wie gewohnt flüssig läuft!

Zwarte zwanen hebben van alle zwanen de langste hals: meer dan half zo lang als de totale lichaamslengte. De geslachten zijn qua uiterlijke kenmerken gelijk.

De zwarte zwanen vormen rond hun tweede levensjaar een koppel voor het leven. De kuikens worden door de ouders samen opgevoed.

De zwarte zwaan is niet honkvast. Bij zwerftochten kan hij afstanden van honderden kilometers overbruggen en zorgt zo ook zelf voor zijn verspreiding.

Kenmerkend is de klagende, trompetterende roep bij hun nachtelijke vluchten.

Locally a farmer has started a sunflower field this year.. (It's SO GORGEOUS! It was my first time ever seeing a sunflower field.. (We don't do that around here, we're the blueberry capital of the world.. and we do apples/peaches but usually NOT flowers.. especially beautiful sunflowers like this!) So glad I got to witness this.. BEAUTIFUL sight indeed!
