San Jose Fire Department responded to reports of a garage fire on Topaz Ave in May 2012. First in units reported the house well ablaze and the Delta exposure already ablaze. A second alarm was immediately struck.
The fire continued to threaten an exposure on the Charlie side, and a 3rd alarm was called to deal with the out of control fire.
The house of origin was destoyed while two adjacent properties suffered various levels of damage as a result of the blaze. 7 people were displaced, but there were no reported injuries.

On August 2nd 2011 Santa Clara Fire Department responded to a burning house. Fire had spread to a "structure" behind the house that contained a "heavy fuel load". The black smoke cloud was atypical of a house fire and looked more like a burning industrial complex. After the "structure at the rear collapsed the fire was quickly handled by first and second alarm units.
Today Santa Clara's Duty Battalion Chief is driving this Chevy Tahoe Command vehicle.

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - Officials are trying to piece together exactly what happened with Continental Flight 3407 before it crashed into a home in Clarence Thursday.
44 people and 4 crew members were on the plane. One person on the ground also died. The flight was a 74-seat Q400 Bombardier aircraft and operated by Colgan Air. Colgan officials are expressing sorrow to the family members of the victims in the accident.
The President and CEO of the Pinnacle Airlines Corp and CEO of Colgan Air, Philip Trenary says they are doing everything they can to find out what caused the crash. Officials say they Q400 Bombardier was a brand new plane. The pilot flying the plane was a male and had a female co-pilot. They have confirmed the flight did leave Newark and was delayed.
The flight was originally scheduled to arrive at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport around 8:30pm Thursday, they have not said why it was delayed. This is the first accident with the company."
