his comical little duck lives up to its name – look out for the black tuft of feathers on its head! Common in wetlands from marshy and reed-fringed lakes to open reservoirs; locally on the sea in winter, especially when lakes freeze. Boldly patterned male distinctive: black overall with bright white flanks (whiter than scaup) and floppy crest

New England region, East Coast, USA
It is very comical to watch these ducks landing 😂
At this particular spot, you will get multiple occasions to get shots like this one even with a shorter lens. This photographs was taken with a 100-400mm lens on a full frame camera. Yes, I will describe in detail where you need to be situated to get such photograph in my upcoming guide to photographing waterfowl in New England region - www.greggard.com/location-guides/common-eiders-new-englan...
Thank you in advance for kind comments!

The Origins of the meal called "Brunch" is rather comical!
The 1896 supplement to the Oxford English Dictionary cites Punch magazine, which wrote that the term was coined in Britain in 1895 to describe a Sunday meal for "Saturday-night carousers" in the writer Guy Beringer's article "Brunch: A Plea"[6] in Hunter's Weekly.[7][8]
Instead of England's early Sunday dinner, a postchurch ordeal of heavy meats and savory pies, the author wrote, why not a new meal, served around noon, that starts with tea or coffee, marmalade and other breakfast fixtures before moving along to the heavier fare
By eliminating the need to get up early on Sunday, brunch would make life brighter for Saturday-night carousers. It would promote human happiness in other ways as well.
"Brunch is cheerful, sociable and inciting", Beringer wrote. "It is talk-compelling. It puts you in a good temper, it makes you satisfied with yourself and your fellow beings, it sweeps away the worries and cobwebs of the week."
— William Grimes, "At Brunch, the More Bizarre the Better" New York Times, 1998[9]
For all you Saturday night "carousers", enjoy your brunch! :0)

This is a real sea-monster. I found it in the Dunedin museum (NZ, Sep 2016), in their dead animal collection in the attic. Stupidly I didn't photograph the info card saying what it was, and when/where it was found. But I'm sure it was in a spaceship at the bottom of the ocean.
Charismatic and sometimes comical, the diminutive Burrowing Owl is an easily recognized icon of the grasslands and arid regions of western North America, Florida, and the Caribbean. Unique among North American owls, this species is active day and night, nests in underground burrows, and typically nests in small groups. Very common in Brazil.
Wishing you a Peaceful new week!
Thanks a lot for your visits, comments, faves, invites, etc. Very much appreciated!

I was set up and hoping for a flight shot when this Burrowing Owl took up a comical pose that I couldn’t resist. (Athene cunicularia) (Sony a1, 200-600 lens @ 506mm, 1/3200 second, f/6.3, ISO 3200)
Well it was rather a comical scene, had anyone been there to witness our tentative adventures across the stones, rather like bambies on ice. What comes of getting older I presume
The small slither of orange witnessed on our arrival, slowly decided to burst out filling the clouds with a gorgeous glow, so much so that I'm struggling processing some of the later ones.
You know the ones when people think you've supped the colour dials and it's not real
As I'd previously mentioned our trip up to Northumberland was to meet up with fellow Flickr friend Skyebaggie.
I'd half expected he would be down on the rocks, way before our arrival. Sadly he had very much misjudged the time it takes to get here and had watched the colour disappearing before his eyes, on route
Not the exact comp I was after but a multitude of people arrived in the castle car park, just as the colour emerged, with rather large filming equipment (apparently filming a documentary on kayaking)
Link to a video of one doing their comical walk, not my video, so funny! Exactly what this one was doing.

Found this American Woodcock very slowly, methodically and comically crossing the road leading into the refuge. It would take a step, stop, sway its body back and forth, take another step and repeat over and over, taking several seconds for each step, so funny and cute! Have seen videos of them doing this but first time to actually see, made my day. Not the best quality and cropped quite a bit, but a great memory for me. :) Wish I could have taken a video. Check out the link above to see one. I'm sure others have seen these but a first for me.
Photos from a morning at Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge near Mound City, Mo. Was hoping to see tons of snow geese during the Spring migration but I think many had flown on north. Crazy windy and dusty! Still a fun morning, sorry for so many photos. :)
Comically referred to by moonbase denizens as the "Wheelly-Go-Round", the G00-DG-R33F Recon Rover was not for the faint of heart and required nimble coordination between co-riders....
Rover 28 (really though, it is build 12)
My dinos are very curious, when I checked in the freezer and found some who had obviously been too curious about what that container of water was doing and hopped in just before I put the lid on. Luckily freezing did them no harm, and they just defrosted then spent the next hour leaping around my lounge like monkeys 😂
The destruction is as you'd expect. Luckily they are housetrained, unlike the moose.
The theme for this CrAzY Tuesday (7-Feb-2023) is 'Frozen in ice'.
May all your Tuesdays be CrAzilY HaPpY!

THANK YOU!!! 💋💋💋
A few months ago I started with flickr just to kill some time. If you look back to my beginning you see I did not know much, all I had was a passion of making pictures. Over time the music series developed.. then the comics.. and many other little experiments such as changing Windlight settings, focus, post editing, morphing.. and I still feel like I just started this journey.
But most of all, its because of you that I still doing it. You motivate me with your works and words, with suggestions and sometimes just with inspiration. I never thought anyone would like those pictures other than me . Thank you all, I am deeply humbled 💕💕💕 300 followers.. o wow! This is for all of you
My daughter's cats are soooo entertaining! Here Pippin is trying to get some quiet time, but take a look at the pictures below to see what was happening before this comical ending. :D
This poor photographer got more than he bargained for when the pelicans tried to land on him!!! It was quite comical to watch, though!! I took this in St. Petersburg, Florida.
She really is such a fun little girl. She loves rolling around on her back, and is impossible to resist 😍

This nest of wooden cats was handmade. I bought it years ago from a craftsman in a Cambridge market. It always makes me smile.
Rascal of the bush, Comical, noisey, nosey and just good company.
Sadly like most natives drastically reduced in range to the point where only carefully managed and protected areas contain them today.
When a silly idea becomes a grim reality 😊

Pacific Baza and its 1001 faces. I find these birds quite comical in their many expressions from "whoops" to "regal" to "Ugh, again greens for dinner" ... It was huge fun to watch and I hope to see more of that species soon.
This was the first time for me seeing the Pacific Baza and of that day, that definitely was my favourite character to watch!
Species in conflict # 7
This mated pair of Red-necked Grebes was looking for a suitable place to build their nest in a mature man-made lake in Edmonton. They seemed to think that the anchored platform often used by Ducks, Geese, Cormorants, and Pelicans for rest and preening would be ideal.
The Canada Goose wasn’t so sure. I was surprised that it gave way after the Grebes just stood there looking at it for a few minutes. I didn’t know that they could stand upright like that. It was odd to see, and made me laugh. The Grebes did not attempt to build a nest there. There were too many large birds coming and going all day.
Red-necked Grebes vigorously defend their nest sites, often launching submarine attacks against any waterfowl that ventures too close.
Coati - This medium sized mammal is related to raccoons. Although they might look comical, you do not want to approach a wild Coati. This particular wild Coati regularly visits the Santa Rita Lodge in Madera Canyon. It amazed me that the lodge had to put up signs everywhere telling people not to feed, or try to pet the this animal! This regular visitor is a treat worth waiting for, and it would be a damn shame if it had to be re-located or put down because some idiot tried to pet it and got bitten.

There are few things more comical, to me anyway, than the fumbling about that happens when a great photo opportunity presents itself when I am totally unprepared for it. This little Cactus Wren got us scurrying as we were loading our car. The sun was barely clearing the horizon when I heard the familiar raspy call right above my head. I looked up and the warm light was creating what I knew would be a fabulous image but none of my gear was set up for the shot. After frantically digging through my bag for a fresh memory card and battery I went to take a shot only to notice that my 1.4x TC was mounted on the lens. After a few more seconds of juggling gear to remove it and nearly dumping the whole rig on the ground I finally clicked off a few shots just before the moment was over. Good thing this bird has a long song!

Campylorhynchus brunneicapillus
It’s a lively afternoon in the overlook, where sunlight filters through the pine trees to reveal a retro wonderland. Brightly colored artworks, groovy music, and fun games set the stage for an unforgettable bash. But just as the resident puppies are getting their groove on, a band of mischievous skunks bursts onto the scene, turning the party into a comical chaos. It’s pure whimsy and bedlam at the overlook — just another brick in the wall of this quirky paradise!

ti leaned in — and so did she. like a cannonball of chaos squeezed into a fur coat. she didn’t meow. she announced herselfto the entire block. brick by brick behind her seemed to vibrate with the same energy. it wasn’t just a greeting; it was a warning, an invitation, and a question all at once. she was half housecat, half street preacher — delivering one loud sermon from a crooked windowsill. this was her kingdom. and i was lucky just to pass through.

This is a helmeted guineafowl.
Because of his helmet, he looks like an ancient Greek warrior.
With his long lashes and bright colors, it also has something comical.
This faintly comical statue under its canopy is of Charles II, who funded much of the major restoration after the ravages of the Civil War. Sculpted by Sir William Wilson (1641 - 1710), a sign also says 'This statue was placed in the principal position on the west front where it remained until the 19th century restoration'.
