This was her effort yesterday LOL! - she might have been feeling a bit too plump to jump.

Though she can really leap when she feels like it.

For this weeks Flickr Friday 'Jump' theme. 😃

The Razorbill looks quite comical head on.

Thank you all for your kind responses.

This rail stands about 13 inches tall and inhabits wetlands and forests from Mexico to South America. An omnivore, it feeds on insects, snails, small vertebrates, and plant matter. Though typically shy, it sometimes makes a bold, almost comical dash across open spaces before vanishing into dense vegetation. Its loud, ringing calls echo through the forest at dawn and dusk.

Brown, aquatic bird with brilliant blue eyes. Tiny, stunted wings look almost comical and seem out-of-place on such a large bird. Endemic to Galápagos (where it is the only cormorant), and restricted to rocky coastlines of Isabela and Fernandina islands. Breeds throughout the year in small colonies. Often seen carrying large clumps of seaweed, which it uses to build its nest. (eBird)

Sometimes when Raerae is doing her invisible spying behind the net curtain it looks there are three cats on the windowsill.

When I fill the bird feeders, I sometimes sit down and set the pitcher with bird food down. 1 chipmunk climbed inside and another came along and scared the other one out making him jump high in the air out of the pitcher. These guys are really funny to watch.

Grey Seal pups resting above the tide line, while the adults were seen feeding off shore on a recent wildlife shoot.

Happy Weekend to all :-)

A juvenile American Bittern strikes what appeals to me as a comical pose at a wetland in southern Alberta, Canada. The effect is created by the fluffed-out feathers and of course the way the eyes appear in this view.

Thanks for all the great support!

A whitebaiter checking her afternoons catch.

Another shot taken during whitebait season. There were always at least a couple of people patiently standing by their nets trying to catch as many tiny little fish as they could.

I'm not a fan of eating the fish, but loved the silhouettes the whitebaiters made :-)

Taken at Himatangi Beach, Manawatu, New Zealand.

Another capture of these comical birds taken on our visit to the Farne Islands.

Cedar Waxwings are beautiful birds and almost comical to watch as they feast on berries by tossing them into their mouths. Yet when they pause, they display an elegance and stateliness as reflected in this shot. This bird was among a flock of about 12 that descended on a small crabapple tree in the parking lot of a local JC Penny store. The building provided a beautiful soft background color while the bird posed on a low branch.

Puffin

Fratercula arctica (Atlantic puffin)

Often called the ‘clown of the sea’ the puffin is an unmistakable seabird with a black back and white underparts, distinctive black head with large pale cheeks and brightly-coloured bill. Their comical appearance is heightened by red and black eye markings and bright orange legs.

Breeding

They prefer islands where they mostly nest in burrows which they usually excavate themselves but they may also nest under rocks and scree or in cracks on cliffs: these are called puffinries. They lay one egg and their young are called pufflings. After hatching the young puffin remains underground concealed in the nest, until the night comes for it to head for the open sea, not to return until it is ready to breed, usually some 5 years later.

Winter

Spent at sea, some fly as far as the Bay of Biscay.

Eat

Fish, especially sandeels.

Sound

A growling laugh.

Spot them

Adults arrive back at the breeding colonies in March and April and leave again in early-August. You’ll see them on the Isle of May, Fidra, Craigleith and occasionally in the stone walls of the historic ramparts on the Bass Rock. A group of puffins is called a circus.

Taken in Florida earlier this year. Such comical, cute birds!

As always thank you for stopping by to view my images. I really appreciate any comments and faves. Have a great day my Flickr friends.

Taken on the Isle of Lunga, Scotland. We took a boat trip with Staffa Tours to Lunga and Staffa. If you're ever up that way I can highly recommend this trip.

Many thanks to all who comment, fave or just enjoy looking, it really is very much appreciated!

I opened a timothy hay bale this week and they weren't too keen on it as they love alfalfa the best. Alfalfa is sweeter and packed with protein but it was very cold and they were hungry. Thanks to Red (horse) my moose detector alerted me to them being in my gelding's horse shelter sleeping earlier so I had the cam handy. I was feeding my horses and had to stop what I was doing and move away or they would have been right up on me in a flash. Trust me, you don't want Mama moose in your business. In this moment the calf found a tasty morsel after thrashing through the hay with her front legs making a mess and the cow who always has one eye on her calf wanted her to share, the yearling took it away at first then decided to give some to her mom. Moose remind me of a donkey and giraffe all rolled into one in certain comical ways. They can be extremely curious and always reaching for the highest branch. I left them alone after this quick click and came back to feed my horses in an hour and they were gone. I don't have much time these days due to my second job but I thought I would share this story.

Love puffins, colourful, comical, and a joy to photograph

not of our world / worlds within / beyond our universe

This Ruby-throated Hummingbird spends a good part of the day perched in a tree where he has a clear view of his "domain". When he's not perched or feeding, he spends his time chasing away birds of all sizes - it's actually pretty comical to watch.

Comfy?

Taken for the Saturday Self Challenge "Birds"

We are lucky enough to have a few breeding colonies of these comical birds in Scilly but each of them is on an uninhabited island where it is either illegal or impossible to land. As a result the only photographic option is from a boat. The challenges being very different to that if you are lucky enough to visit a colony on land. The light was lovely last Saturday evening after the challenge was announced but the sea conditions were less than ideal being a bit choppy in the cold easterly winds. Having reached the small island of Mincarlo there were plenty of Puffins on the water and having secured some shots of sitting birds I upped the challenge to myself in an attempt to capture an acceptable flying bird shot. These are surprising quick and erratic little birds and capturing a bird in flight, standing on a rocking boat with a long lens is not easy. I am pleased with the end result though and it was an added bonus that this bird had a beak full of sand eels as it returned to the nest.

Last night's Aurora was bright, bold, and beautiful! All around us and changing by the second, I'm sure it would have been comical to watch me pivoting around my tripod with the camera pointed up, down, left, and right. Luckily, the other 60 or so people on the little beach we were on, were all doing the same thing.

Such comical characters when lining up to get fed.

My shot for Macro Mondays 'Dots and Strips' theme (26-Nov-2018) :-)

Cropped so it's under the groups size limit.

As described in the previous image, the comical swagger of the Grosbeak after apparently vanquishing a Scarlet Tanager. A super weird and engaging encounter along the abandoned road that has been drawing me back for early morning hikes.

One of the flock of Steller's Jays that make Bijoux Falls in northern British Columbia their home. On this visit, most of the Jays had this comical looking crest, since it was a damp day.

These males were chasing each other around the tree. Quite comical at times.

Thanks so much for the visit!
