The Making of This Photo:

So, obviously I didn't capture genuine colour in this photo, I had to create it. So, I didn't put as much thought into the actual framing and make up of this photo "on set" as I did my other ones because I had always had a clear image in my head of how I wanted it to look, and I has almost no trouble getting that look. In post production is where most of the work was done. First, I selected the centre lemon that I had cut and I made a copied layer of it. Then, I had to use the colour replacement tool on the individual slices. I was lucky that there were exactly ten (an even number of) different sections within the lemon because I was able to make a pattern as opposed to having to have all different colours. And so, the process of colour replacement began and I tried to go along with the colours of the rainbow. All worked out really well and I am very happy with my end product.

What This Photo Offers:

This photo offers Contrast, Balance and Framing very strongly. There is contrast with the colour splash versus the black and white, and there is contrast made between the cut lemons insides and the rinds of the uncut lemons and oranges. Balance is incorporated because the photo is weighted equally with the fruits all evenly filling the photo. Framing is a part of this photo in that all the other fruits around the coloured in lemon make a kind of circle around it and bring the eye towards the dream-like lemon.

But then again... no one likes less!!
