I was so fortunate to be matched with the extremely talented MFayre for Week 11. Our theme was one that we both struggled to come up with an image that properly portrayed the theme - or at least I did! I wanted to take an image that portrayed the literal definition of the word "perpendicular" - as in the geometry definition. I love how MFayre's image and mine work so well together! Brilliant!

Duke is short for Duquesne Beer. The Duquesne Brewing Company was a major brewery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from its founding in 1899 until its dissolution in 1972. The brand was revived under the name Duquesne Brewing Company in 2008, in order to re-establish the beer in Western Pennsylvania starting in the summer of 2010.

This is the collaboration between Meganzii and I for The Divine Diptych Project. This is a project between a group of us who have known each other a long time on Flickr. The project pairs us up each week with a different photographer and we both shoot a picture on the same theme and then create a diptych of the results. The only thing Meg and I agreed on before we shot our pieces this week was that we would both shoot in colour.
Our theme was 'Lights' by the way :)

My first collabration ever. I'm such a dork, yes. Anyways, you have Willy and Liana here.. in a lake... with rain.
Overly handsome Willy belongs to Lauren and Liana.

This tree featured in my 100 spooky tree series, and I have hardly been to shoot it since. But now I've got a few more shots I've started a Spooky Tree 100+ set. Not that this means I am aiming for a specific number (at least not until I've reached 100 on my Windmill and Oak Tree series)

The Island
I’d love to be an island:
Alone on my way through the universe
See nothing, think nothing, feel nothing…
I’d fly through the space
In a vacuum – in the dark…
No breath – no life…
No fainting, no anger
No desire, no despair
No guilt, no regret.
But also:
No love, no compassion,
No heart, no soul…
Empty, burnt out…
This is how I feel sometimes
In the night
Alone on my island…
From afar I see
The stars
They carry:
My thoughts, my feelings
My helplessness, my anger
My hope, my love
A far away light…
But everybody can see them
At night:
My yearning, my ache,
My asking, my entreaty…
Open, without shame…
Sometimes
I’d wish myself
On that island…
… with you.

Our theme this week was "tactile" which we interpreted as "touch". We have been talking about how sometimes there is a want for the touch of another and this where the concept for this collaboration came from. It was decided that we would both use colour but the formats were still up in the air. I shot a couple of different shots in different formats and sent them to Michelle and let her decide which one went best with her shot. I really LOVE this collaboration...especially the emotion that is being conveyed in each photo and how well they work together.
