July 22, 2007 (Sunday) - Let this be a lesson for you: Should you spend all of a rainy afternoon at a movie, you can always come home and shoot a coconut shell elephant from the souvenir shelf as a Daily Picture.

This image is in a set called the "Daily Picture Parade". Whereas the focus of my eJournal and images blog is on ideas. Here, I can emphasize places I go by shooting and adding an image each day. I started this in July of 2005. Doing so has reminded me to constantly carry my camera to create a direct record of my personal experiences.

These were used for fuel to cook the coconut candy.

The World's smallest particles of Coconut Shell Powder - First time such particles have been invented by Indian Woman Scientist Ms.T.Theivasanthi. They have superparamagnetic behaviour. They are useful in cancer treatment / diagnostics, in biological applications including bio-sensors and many more industrial applications. Coconut shells used as bowls for soup and viands and, in the morning, also for coffee! Utensils provided by Cordillera People's Alliance.

Sometimes when we say "bao" (the coconut shell), we are also referring to the head. E.g., "Ang tigas talaga ng bao mo" ("You're really hard-headed!"). Which the CPA has to be, yes?

Weeping Buddha (Coconut Shelled). Wanted the shell to be in focus so used a smaller aperture but still a little out of focus I guess due to zoom. Had to balance camera and used timer due to slow shutter speed

all my plants have died, as did one of my fish, so here's to new beginnings...

I also watched my favorite movie last night, for the hundreth time, Harold and Maude and thought this to be so appropriate:

"I like to watch things grow. They grow, and bloom, and fade, and die, and change into something else! Ah, life!"

This dolphin has been round my neck for over 7 years now and only comes off for very special occasions and only every comes off for a couple of hours at a time.

I carved it myself out of a coconut shell when I spent three days on a boat sailing up the Amazon, so it's kinda special to me, which is why I thought it was worthy of sharing.
