Advindas de Projetos Culturais como o Balé Afro Maje Molê, grupo cultural Maracambuco, Afoxé Ara Odé, Banca Percussiva Rumbanda, e os Grupos Ação Peixinhos e Nação Mulambo,o Coco das Afilhadas traz como principal característica,a Formação do grupo por sete jovens mulheres que tem entre 18 e 25 anos.
Tocando Coco, de Umbigada,Coco Raiz e Coco de Roda,também apresentam a tão dançante Sambada de Coco.
Com um figurino de saias rodadas, blusas de rendas,lantejoulas,bordados e ao som das alpercatas O coco das Afilhadas apresenta um espetáculo bonito de se ver.
As canções e preparação musical do grupo,tem uma contribuição do multiartista Toca de Ogan conhecido internacionalmente por ser artista exclusivo da banda Chico Science Nação Zumbi,hoje Nação Zumbi que durante 03 meses aplicou para elas algumas oficinas.
Além de fazer a diferença por romper uma cultura de domínio entre os homens na música percussiva e por desde a infância vivenciarem o fazer cultural como brincantes de diversos grupos,o Coco das Afilhadas traz a irreverência,a disposição,a força e a beleza da juventude feminina.
O COCO DAS AFILHADAS SURGIU EM MEIO A BRINCADEIRAS, EM UMA FESTA FAMILIAR EM CASA DA ATRIZ CONCEIÇÃO CAMAROTTI . POREM SAINDO DESSE PATAMÁR, E BUSCANDO O PROFISSIONALISMO DO COCO, O MESMO VEM COM UMA PROPOSTA DE PROMOVER E DIFUNDIR A CULTURA DO COCO QUE É TÃO PRESENTE EM NOSSO ESTADO. ASSIM MOSTRADO A DIVERSIDADE E ESTIMULANDO A VALORIZAÇÃO DA NOSSA CULTURA E FOTARLECENDO MAIS NOSSA TÃO GRANDIOSA DIVERSIDADE CULTURAL, PRETENDENDO OCUPAR ASSIM SEU ESPAÇO NO MERCADO MUSICAL.
